Canicula,
Please don't be offended that I eavesdropped just a bit on a conversation thread between you and Sirius the Dog Star.
May I make some small contact and pursue your understanding of German, as I noted you hail from that country, as do I? I was born in Wiesbaden, when it was still *West* Germany. Grew up on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, and lost a tremendous amount of my heritage. What sparked me to make this contact was your reference to having a story to tell on the WW2 website, concerning your grandmother. My own mother recently recounted her travels and travails after the war drew to a close, her mother (my Oma) taking them on a submarine, witnessing the sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff, and their trek to reunite with the husband / father. It would make a good love story, so my wife and I have planned to work together on it. She's better at the 'mushy stuff', and I can edit and hone a piece of literature until it shines, so it should work out well.
Let me know if contact is acceptable, especially considering the events surrounding how I found your personal page.
