Hello Post people, I'm quite interested in doing cartoons for the Post. I just want to know what are the Post guidelines?

Hello Ayeka
Cartoons must be relatively small - if they are too large we can make them smaller, but as that makes more work for us and damages the quality we'd prefer not to. They also must be sent to us as a .jpg file in order for us to upload them to h2g2. Beyond that, I suggest you look at the cartoon archives at A728741 to see what people have submitted in the past.
Looking forward to receiving your submissions!

I've been using 500 X 500 as a general rule.
I've had bigger and I've had smaller in my two or so year spate of cartoonish silliness with first the Cartoon Corner or the Wowbagger replacement blues or something like that, and then my own set, Platypus Dancing.

Oh okay, I'll send it and see what they say.
I must admit I like your platypus dancing, there was something Salvidor-Daliesque about them.

Hello there
Sorry about the delay in replying. I've internet connection-less for a while and only just found my way back to h2g2.
Size:
All graphics for The Post are generally limited to 400 pixels for the longest side as anything bigger can distort the page for readers with smaller screens. There are the occasional exceptions (for example when they are word-heavy and reducing the size makes reading them difficult) but it would be best to aim for this size if possible.
Format:
The preferred format is jpg - please note that bmp's are not accepted by the ftp programme.
Naming:
If you are considering running your own series then you need to think of a good name for it and then label your cartoons with a unique name/number system so they don't get overwritten on the server. It should be all lower-case and numbering start at 01 (so I don't get confused )
If you are just thinking of generic cartoons then these will appear under the 'Cartoon Corner' section and I'll number them accordingly.
Just send them in to the PO address for 'article submissions' and we'll take a look at starting them soon although it appears that there are a lot of holidays coming up for some members of the Post Team in the next few weeks so there will be only 2 more editions before our summer break throughout August. You may prefer to wait until September if you want to run a new series.

Not unless you want to tonsil. I generally sort out any that are overlarge at this end.
They don't have to be square btw... just the longest side should generally be no more than 400 pixels. Obviously sometimes this doesn't work - especially if the cartoon is word-intensive - but this is the rule of thumb we've been working to for quite sometime.
I think in the interregnum the journal entry outlining the specifics for graphics in The Post seems to have been deleted.

Okay then I will re-edit it smaller because sometimes the text goes illegable when you shrink them. I've noticed that on some of Evilclaws comics.
