Okay, is it just me, or do the best entries in the Guide get their, um, best-ness from the fact that they look at the topics covered in a way which is new and fresh? I mean, using a tree to pick up people? Or one of my favorite bits: "It always pays to remember, however, that fire is hot. Fire is very, very hot. If it can make small animals crispy, just think what it can do to your fingers."
I mean, yes, fire is hot. Of course it is. But the phrase 'make small animals crispy' -- as a _beneficial_ effect -- now that's entertainment.
Not that this has anything to do with my recently approved (and edited) Guide entry. I say carry on, editors -- just look at all of the words out there that are sorely lacking in the letter U! Good God! Even this journal entry is infected, what with the word 'favorite' up in the first paragrauph!

I've learned my lesson -- no more carriage returns for me. And here I was, blithely expecting HTML-ish formatting...
Since I really don't have very much to say, I'll wrap this up rather quickly. Not that I really believe anyone is reading it anyway... but merely because I've heard from a reliable source that talking to one's self is a sure sign of impending mental collapse.
Er. Right.

Dead trees

Ach! Another set of manuals has just arrived on my desk for proofing,
each of which is freely available in electronic format. Six inches of
unnecessary paper... glad to see that I'm doing my part to maintain
our disposable culture. Bah.
On a happier note, if you stick a package of push-pins into a paper
cup in a random fashion, and then look inside, it looks a bit like a
lamprey's mouth.
Hmm. Perhaps I need a new hobby.
