The question has arisen on a number of occasions of whom is Buffy's soul mate, Angel or Spike, for a number of months, since the question was first asked by myself in a thread on Yoome, I have maintained all along that it was Angel, however I found myself to be out weighed by the Spike fans, my girlfriend being one of them.

After really watching tonights episode, I find myself...swallows pride...agreeing with them, yes, the relationship between Buffy and Angel was extremely passionate, but after tonights episode I realised that Spike would never hurt Buffy, and this is not the case with Angel.

Darling, I apologise for all of the remarks I made!!

However, I still believe that if Buffy were to make the choice between Spike and Angel, that she would still choose Angel.

I'm leaving now to pick up the pieces of what's left of my pride.

I think she would choose Spike, he's a warrior like she is. Angel was moping, seeking redemption, not something Buffy needs. Also I think Angel was her first love, she was quite innocent but now she's seen the worst things in the world, she's died and been to Heaven and she's making a real choice. She connects with Spike, I don't think Angel is in the running really

It's so Angel! Buffy didn't love Spike, she just wanted 2 jump his bones.

Its definately Spike as her soul mate!

If she had to pick between them, I still think she'd pick Angel. Its her personality, she's addicted to the pain and misery. Look at the thing with Parker for that!
She'd never pick Spike as he wants to look out for her and make sure she's doing the right thing and is happy. Buffy just cant deal with that!

I was talkin 2 my m8 about this thread yesterday & he brought up a very good point. If Buffy wasn't Angels soul mate, How was it that he had a moment of true bliss with her.... He's slept with other women since & kept his soul. The only thing that sort of contradicts that tho, is in s4 of Angel, Angel is tricked 2 believe he slept with Cordy & he loses his soul, but that was done with the help of magic, so i don't know if that still counts coz the spell led him 2 believe he had a moment of bliss. If he had really slept with Cordy he may not have lost his soul. Anyway, i still think Angel was Buffy's soulmate......
Even though i think Spike loved Buffy more than Angel ever did. But Buffy didn't love him back
