That Ask thread - it's a nice clean thread (or at least it was when I last looked, I haven't read it this morning yet) on a well-known quote from someone or other, and I'm glad it's there. But I can't help thinking that it couldn't have been started by anyone other than a new voice. If an established researcher had started the thing, the battle lines would have been implicit in the first post and fully established by the fifth. Hence my relief at hearing a fresh voice.
It also helps that anhaga got to it first, before some of our more vigorous pot-stirrers.
Tracking back to find out how I ended up where I am after starting where I did was an interesting mental exercise too.

How's your Saturday going? I'm cruising, a bit of gardening, a bit of c2, a bit of h2 (very quiet though!).
It's sunny and I keep thinking I should go out and Do Something. Can't think what though
I'm off for a snooze soon anyway

I've been staring out the window at the shrub that needs removing and thinking 'I'll go out there in a minute and start on that'. This has been going on for hours now. The omens aren't good. Maybe tomorrow...
I'm also watching a Time Team DVD and idly tooling about on hootoo lurking in sundry places, some of which are more sundry than others.
Mostly, though, I keep nodding off and having micro-naps.

Are you sure those aren't Saturdry places?
Time Team... that looks interesting. Don't know if it's played here but I'll check my dvd rental thingy.
I keep meaning to shift the laptop to the couch.

Saturdry.
I suppose moving the couch to the laptop would take more effort, so your idea's probably best.
2pm. If I start faffing about in the kitchen at about 3pm, I can have a nice early evening meal. Now I just have to find the motivation to do any sort of physical activity, like standing up or something.

Sorry about the lack of a pun warning.
Sounds like a bit of a dinner plan. Mine consists of fossicking in the fridge to see what can be reheated There's no wine in the house though, am wondering if I should remedy that first.

I'd advise skipping past what *can* be reheated and limiting the search to what *should* be reheated.
I haven't started cooking yet. Instead, I decided to risk having a drink for the first time since May. Goodness, headspins off a single beer. Amazing. I recommend drinking, it's fun.

Ooh, good. I think I'll head for the shop in that case. Although I probably should look in my wallet first
I didn't realise you still weren't drinking. That must be a relief to get the all clear on booze (if I've understood that correctly).

I looked in my wallet earlier, and it wasn't fun. I wish you better luck with yours.
I haven't been told *not* to drink at any point, so I'm assuming it's permitted. The main thing is, this is the first time in ages that i've wanted a drink or two. Besides, I need the space in the fridge.

I managed to scrounge enough together
I've been drinking more than usual. Normally a bottle of wine lasts me a few weeks, at the moment it's about 4 days. I'm in two minds about if that's a problem or not (it seems to be a financial problem at least).

Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Jul 2, 2011
That doesn't sound like a problem in anything other than financial terms, unless you're actually swigging vodka the rest of the time.

My body doesn't tolerate alcohol very well, so I'll get a hangover from just a few glasses. I can handle that occasionally, but not four days in a row, or a bottle a week.

My body's been startled by these beers. Goodness. I'm so out of practice.

It had to be said. Although something had to be done about that thread, that sure as hell wasn't it.

Feel free to do with him what you will. There is probably nothing that could be too bad for him.

I'll make him sit through a public reading of something - anything - by Patrick White.
Two thoughts:
1. Why is it that whenever something repellant happens, the name 'Murdoch' is never far away?
2. Why are we importing idiots when we can produce our own without any effort at all?

Reciprocal trade agreements? Although I have to say that we got the better end of the deal with Green Party co-leader Russell Norman. You did get John Clark though, which would be very hard to make up for. Even taking Paul Henry doesn't make up for that.

Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Nov 5, 2011
Yes, I suppose we do have a free trade agreement in place with regards to people, and we did get John Clark so on balance we're ahead. But I think we need to introduce a No Gits policy at Customs. All gits to be turned back at port of entry...

Speaking of gits, this has to be the weirdest election I've experienced. What's it looking like from over there? Are people sniggering yet?
