Being Human S2
HonestIago Started conversation May 17, 2010
In my journal you said you were going to have the DVDs mid-April and hopefully have watched them by now.
So, what did you think?
Being Human S2
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted May 17, 2010
I do have s2; it's sitting just over there. *points* But I haven't watched it yet. For some stupid reason I'm reluctant to open the box and start watching it. I mean, what if it doesn't live up to expectations? Which it will, of course. Mostly, though, I'm waiting for a chance to sit down and watch the whole thing all the way through in one session.
Now that I don't have to keep looking for a house, I might get a chance to watch s2 this weekend. At least I hope I will...

HonestIago Posted May 17, 2010
Pure personal opinion, but I think it was better than S1.
Get a nice bottle of , some chocolates and enjoy. And then come tell me what you thought of it.
Oh, and you know George (the ) bats for our team, don't you?

Oh, good - that validates me paying particular attention in those scenes where he's a little underdressed. I have to get my thrills where I can these days, being single and no longer of an age where one attracts a nice amount of casual interest... But that's probably enough about the state of my personal life for now.
I shall set aside Sunday for watching s2; it may be my last chance until the end of June.

Ivan the Terribly Average Posted May 23, 2010
And here we are at the end of Sunday, and I haven't even put the DVD in the player yet. I've been putting my library in boxes and fiddling about with this and that and I think I've missed my chance...
I might not get to watch s2 until I'm settled in the new house. I'll keep you posted.

first shots of US remake. Interesting that 'annie' seems to have a very similar outfit on whereas 'mitchell' and 'george' have matching jeans/tshirt outfits.
Not sure if I will get to see this, but my main concern is a Sam Huntington cos he has *very* big shoes to fill.
(sorry for restarting this thread, couldn't find the longer more current one!)

Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 13, 2010
No worries about reviving the thread - it gives me an opportunity to admit, shamefacedly, that I haven't yet watched series 2. I'll have to revisit series 1 first to get back into the story.
Moving house plays havoc with DVD-watching plans. Series 1 and 2 are in that cupboard over there *points* and I'll get them out at the weekend. It'll be a cold wet and gloomy weekend so it'll be ideal viewing conditions...

I'm just ignoring the American remake - there's no way they'll get it right.
Being Human S2
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 13, 2010
That's probably the best approach. American remakes are sometimes strangely off-target.

IctoanAWEWawi Posted Oct 13, 2010
cheers Ivan!
And it ain't 'american' remakes. It is any remake.
For anyone who goes on about american remakes of brit programs being defacto horrible, I suggest they sit through the British remake of Married With Kids starring (I use the term loosly) Russ Abbott:

I couldn't sit through the original version of that, so I dread to think what a remake could be like.

IctoanAWEWawi Posted Oct 14, 2010
They showed the US version over here whilst I was a student and TBH I only watched it for Christina Applegate
It's not much of a defence but it is all I have!

In that case, there was absolutely nothing in it for me...

Have you watched it yet?
Being Human S2
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 21, 2011
I started on Series 2, then I went away for a few days and the mood was lost. Now I'm waiting for another chance for a full-on marathon viewing session. It'll happen. And in the meantime it's something to look forward to.

Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 21, 2011
That good? Gosh. Series 1 was pretty damn fabulous, and Series 2 was looking good before I got distracted and wandered off...
Being Human S2
IctoanAWEWawi Posted Oct 21, 2011
yes, 3 was rather good really.
Weird how in retrospect they each series seems to have a rather different character now. 1 was far more intimate and personal about just them and a few others. 2 opened it up a bit more and had the influence of others on them and 3 really opened the whole world/mythos of BH up.
I really am't too sure about the next one.
Being Human S2
HonestIago Posted Oct 21, 2011
Personally I think S3 is better than S1, by some way. That's not detract anything from S1 at all but to emphasise just how good S3 was.
I like Ictoan's breakdown of the themes - that works for me. I'm reserving judgement on S4 but I can't deny as we creep closer to January I'm getting more and more excited. Plus Misfits is due to appear again soon and that'll keep me going in the meantime.

as an aside HI - you been watching 'The Fades'? Clearly owes something to BH in the whole horror/humour/real life interface thingy.
