Apologies if it's old news to you...

Thanks.
I have seen it before, as it happens, but it still amuses because it's so very plausible in a bent sort of way.
How's things?

Evening, Ivan!
Going fine here - but not looking forward to Tuesday, off back to work after two weeks off!
Not wishing to sound rude, but I'm heading off, I've been watching tv with The Missus for the last couple of hours, and fell asleep, so I think I need to get to bed. Nothing personal, sorry! Hope all's well on your side of the hemisphere.

Things are good here, apart from a broken tooth (just incurred - I was eating cheese and the bloody thing broke, that makes no sense) and Mum turning up tomorrow for a fortnight (so I'll be more or less offline for a while) and the horrid realisation that I've become fatter over Summer or my winter trousers shrank in the wardrobe or something.
Actually, looking back at that lot, I think Life's really rather normal here at the moment.

The phrase "Hard Cheese" springs to mind... sorry.
I'm sorry I vanished like that the other night, I felt rather guilty. It looked like I was online, I'd forgotten to log out while I was downstairs watching TV, i came back up to switch everything off, and saw you'd just replied. It was nothing personal, I promise!

I'd forgotten about this thread, obviously. It must have been lost in the backlog after I'd been playing host to Mum.
So anyway. Thought I'd blow the dust off it.
Not that I've anything to say, mind you. That's a minor detail, though.

Evening, fella!
7.12am here, on a rather dull morning - some quite threatening clouds looming. I'm somewhat shell shocked, as I actually *volunteered* to go in to work today! I don't work weekends if I can help it, so people were amazed to see me there yesterday, but to find that I am in today voluntarily...
I suppose I ought to be getting ready (I need to leave in just over 10 minutes) but the laptop seems to have an addictive urge over me...
Not got anything to say? That doesn't seem to stop most people around here!

That's perfectly true - there are thousands of threads out there *points* that have absolutely no meaningful content. It's rather like RL, really, except we've typed it all.
*thinks*
We must all be mad...
Anyway. Do have fun in the lab. What's on the menu today?

Oops... sorry, missed this - I was out of the door moments after my last post...
On the menu?
So far today, Numerous ears, several armpits, an eye, lots of wounds, and a chunk of something chewy looking from somebody's hip!

And now add to that a small slice (crumb size) of brain! Part of a frontal lobe, sent for bacterial testing.
If it comes back negative, we could pass it on to lil, she needs all the help she can get!

I wonder what she'll say to that if she's lurking... You might want to consider a suit of armour or something.
*stifles a nervous giggle or two*
Anyway. It does sound like you get all the fun jobs. I can read about these things, but if I see them I feel quite ill. I'm always slightly jealos of people with stronger stomachs.

The brain was nothing, really, not much more than the size of a breadcrumb (I'm guessing they weren't trying to remove too much, the patient was still alive). The burger-sized chunk of rotting bum cheek a couple of weeks ago was a corker though...
None of that really bothers me though, I once even had to deal with an amputated arm, cutting a section out of the back of the hand which had necrotising fasciitis (or "flesh eating bacteria") - didn't really bother me. However, you give me a pot of sputum for testing... now *that* turns my stomach!
What a delightful conversation to start / end the day!
As for lil... I can handle her. I've even got a new badge in my PS to prove it...

Does she object to being handled at all?
Rotting flesh. Well. That makes my own w*rk issues seem really lame. All the flesh there is non-rotting, as far as I know; it belongs to my colleagues, who appear to be still alive and fully functioning, but I'm not allowed to lop bits off them for autopsies or even just for fun.

Oh, lil never complains about being handled!
No, colleagues usually *do* complain about limbs/buttocks/brain cells being removed... they're a bunch of spoilsports, really...
Speaking of work, got to head off, just getting ready to go...
Take care, Ivan, probably pass by here again tomorrow morning!

Righto... Have fun, if that's the word for it.
Come to think of it, my sister would probably be fascinated by your w*rk. She always wanted to get into something medical/forensic, but that was before she started to fill up a lab person's w*rkload all by herself.

Hello again!
Lil's just pointed out - you moved house a while ago... I've still got your old house on my "Where are you?" page. If you're interested in it being updated, let me know, I'll see if I can get you sorted!

I'd forgotten all about that page.
Yes, please do update me. I was at number 1, now I'm at number 8. Across the road, then three doors down. It's very strange seeing people I don't know wandering around in my old house...
