I wouldn't give a fetid dingos kidneys about it smiley - whistle

But I do like to see progress in human behaviour smiley - ok

And to be fair I should mention that Johanna Sigurdoardottir and her partner "registered their partnership" as soon as it was possible some years ago already. But now she is rightfully married, which is a bit different

Apparently the icelanders learned from their old colonialists Denmark, who allowed registrating partnerships between two people of the same gender more than 10 years ago - the first nation on smiley - earth to do so smiley - geek

They still debate if and how the church of Denmark should recognize marriage between two people of the same gender, but again I wouldn't give the same dingos kidneys

Why would i want to listen to lectures given by elderly men who crossdress on sundays? smiley - whistle

All that crossdressing and not a hint of style or flair anywhere. smiley - weird It's such a dull act, but still people go to see it every week.

*Some* people. Most of our churches are empty. But they still get paid by *all* tax payers smiley - cross Even those that have bailed out, like me

The most expensive show here in Denmark, I believe

I'm glad there's no State church here. They're supposed to get no public funding, though their schools do - which makes me quite grumpy.

I understand smiley - cross

We need a new constitution - and have done so for years already

For one thing it contradicts itself at least twice:

1. You are not allowed to discriminate because of gender (race, religion or political beliefs) - but only males have to serve as soldiers...

2. Even if you are not a member of the official church you still pay the clergynmen's and -women's wages! smiley - cross

That doesn't sound fair at all. And I agree about the military thing - if we have equality (which I agree with) and there's to be conscription (which I don't agree with at all), then conscription should be non-discriminatory.

Back to Julia, for a moment. Some of the media coverage has been slightly hysterical lately, but here's a nice reality check by one of my favourite journalists: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/07/05/2944534.htm?site=thedrum
