Intro
Six years ago I was a contributor to the Guide, although all I actually did was carp at someone who wrote a brief article about my city -- said city being Birmingham, Alabama, in the Military Republic of North America (commonly shortened to "USA" for reasons that escape me).
Birmingham's a nice place that my wife and I were desperate to get away from for some years, mainly because of its undeserved (well, formerly deserved) reputation. But by the time the opportunity to escape actually presented itself, we found that we had grown fond of the settlement formerly known as Frog Level. So we're still there, and plan to remain indefinitely.
That's probably enough to get on with, as the Brits say. I hope I've misspelled things properly.
