Frenchbean, Yes, I know it is a little early to be bidding you Au Revoir and Bon Voyage but the latter half of the week is so busy for many of us I thought I had better do it now, in case I miss your last few days online. After the 28th Jan I gather you are orff!!
I shall miss your posts very much, but look forward to messages confirming your safe arrival in Oz. I shall also be watching for intermittent posts as you gallivant around or settle down as the case may be
Enjoy your last weeks in the UK, weather permitting, and have a good flight out on the 11th Feb.
**Pssst!!** Anyone going to Heathrow to see her off 6.30-9pm . ( If I have got any facts wrong Fb, I am sure you will put us right)
Send us some warm weather asap please
Best wishes for a happy new life in your new world.

Fb's probably recovering from her last day at work (or is busy with the final details of the move), Websailor.
Not sure that I can make Heathrow to see Fb off, however I shall certainly be with her in spirit.

How did I miss this thread?
Thank you Websailor
It is indeed my last day at work today The down side to that is that it's also my last day with a computer at my fingertips, so my postings will become few and far between I'm afraid
Heathrow 6:30 to 9:30 on the 11th I'll probably be snoozing or reading in the departure lounge, which would make it very hard for anybody to find me

RFemember the travel diary. We'll all want to hear about the trip. And updates on your settling in.
Butterflies in the tummy yet?

No butterflies to speak of at all It all feels right.
I'm now in Galloway, staying with my mother. Moved out of the cottage at the weekend and I didn't which surprised me. I went round every room and thanked the place for looking after me for 4 1/2 years Then I left.
My brother helped me shift my 12 boxes and then put them up into Mum's loft He gets the Frenchbean medal for outstanding excellence
All's well
I haven't forgotten the travel journal and I promise to keep you up to date when I can get to a computer. I shan't forget my hootoo friends

Even if you don't get your own computer in the near future, I imagine there will be lots of internet cafes in Oz, Fb!

Don't Websailor ... I'll be taking you all with me It's lovely to think that I'll still be able to sit in a library/cafe and blather to you all on a regular basis
I'm having a remarkably enjoyable time with my mother. I think we both realise that this might be our last chance to spend any length of time together (she's 83) so we're making the most of it
Of course, the fact that I have zero stress levels helps enormously Honestly folks. I really can recommend no work, no car, no home. There is a huge empty book ahead of me

Just one question - do you ever get away from the Tax man, the VAT man and Customs and Excise? Now that really would be bliss
Melbourne has had torrential rain and floods, so lucky you are not going there. It doesn't sound at all nice at the moment.

When I was living in Oz before, I still had to fill in those Self Assessment forms for the IR And they got lost in the post/faxing a couple of times too
Should be simpler this time cos I don't have any income at all in UK. I was renting out my cottage in those days, but now I'm completely lacking in responsibilities

Sounds good to me
I am sure they couldn't screw up in Oz as good as they do here
Finally got Pension sorted after much hassle, so I can have a life again, of sorts.

I have to complete a P85 form from the IR cos I'm going overseas. Does that indicate that it has 85 pages?
If it does, it'll be a push to get it completed in my remaining 3 days
