Hi, WA,
Thanks for the links. I had read the one article about the tagging in our newspaper, but hadn't seen the other.
I am in the middle of writing to John and Marie Christine. I will let you know if I get a response. My whole family has suffered a round of 'flu, and with Xmas the the New Year I have been very lax.
I am writing Snail Mail as I suspect John is not very computer literate, and anyway long emails are hard reading on a computer, especially if you sight is geared to long distance sea-faring
At least it is good to know that serious work is being done to learn more about Albatrosses, and to persuade fishing vessel owners to do things differently. I refuse to be downhearted, because that could make people give up, and we mustn't.
I'll be in touch if I hear anything. You can get his address from his web page if you want to write yourself. I am sure he would be pleased to know we hadn't forgotten him.

Mine's written and ready to post tomorrow. I believe they can only be reached by boat, so I do not expect a rapid reply, unless by email. Will let you know.
I emailed the journalist reporting on the egg cracking just to let them know their activities are heard about round the world.
is so sad. There must be a better way.

Hello, Wandering Albatross,
I had a lovely card and message through the post today, from John Ridgway. If you wrote too, I suspect you will get something similar.
It is a beautiful photo of English Rose Vl under Tower Bridge. She looks so tiny, it really makes you realise what a feat this round the world voyage was!
JR & MC are in the process of writing a book about their trip, so I shall look forward to that. I think they are recovering from the anti-climax of getting home, and I am sure the Spring will make a big difference to them.
I do hope you hear too. I felt so privileged to receive a handwritten message from a man I admire so much and I shall treasure it always.
