We have a lot of bullfinches, robins, blackbirds, blue and great and today a glorious male chaffinch. Quite a surprise that one, we generally get them more in the winter.

Hi Everyone,

I haven't been around much (actually I am not !!!) as I have been away on holiday for a week which is something of a novelty for me.

I have spent a week in deepest Dorset with my son Craig and it has been wonderful. Not just the place, but a lovely week with a super companion that doesn't seem to mind being seen with his aged parent and shares most of my interests.

A day with Bluesue was the icing on the cake

Back home it was a relief to see that the badgers bore me no ill will for not feeding them for a week, and there were no holes in the lawn. Nigel was relieved that they came back to feed the minute the dishes went out on Saturday night

However, the birds completely emptied six heavily laden feeders and were looking distinctly grumpy at the lack of food That was soon remedied, even before I fed us!!

Badger cam is playing up and my other son has my second one, so I am not sure whether I will be able to put anything on Flickr for a day or two. I will however get round to putting some Dorset photos up in due course.

Not sure about that, I am cream crackered! Fresh air, lots of exercise and good food have done for me, but I do feel mentally refreshed The trouble with good holidays, they are moreish

I am having problems with my badger cam. Something is wrong and I can't quite work out what. I shan't know until other son brings my other camera back. I have asked for it twice, so it looks like a is needed.

It is frustrating as I am almost positive I had cubs come last night. They were running round the garden and all over the patio and wall and all the food went very quickly but unfortunately the cam did not perform

Now that the BBC CT board is closing down, I am going to unsubscribe from this thread because I'll no longer be looking at 'my page' every day. I shall not forget it though, as it seems that h2g2 is being preserved for now.

That's a shame SD. Do come back sometime and keep in touch.

I am hopeful of getting a camera out again soon so we can see what is going on again.

Hi Folks, I have my second camera back now and it seems to be working fine, so hopefully there will be some activity to put up soon. There were four badgers at the dishes last night but the light was fading too fast for me to get normal photos No sign of cubs though, they were all adults!

It is cloudy, hot and heavy tonight with thunder and rain promised so I will have to see if I get lucky with the dig. cam. If not the trail camera should get something. I think my original camera has given up the ghost so bottom of the garden antics will have to be foregone until I decide what to do about it.

Had a woodpecker today, the bullfinches are active, but there are few signs of fledglings of any type except for young robins and very noisy young magpies. Perhaps it is too hot for them too, and I worry that with so little rain for months they are not getting the food they need.

Back with news and pictures when I can. I have a funeral to attend tomorrow sadly.
