h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I am not an ACE but I like to welcome the new people and encourage them in their activities here at h2g2.

In your introductory page you mentioned things you like to talk about, one of which is Buddhism.

Well, having traveled to India and China I have seen Buddhism first hand, in places where it is not just a hobby but the dominate way of life.

I'll tell you up front that I am a Christian and have no apologies about that either.

Having studied Buddhism I have wondered about how "The Buddha" has become a God figure. During his lifetime , Siddhartha never said that HE was the way, in fact he specifically said that HE was of no value as an individual, that he could do nothing for others, nor did he ever say anything about worshipping HIM, but around the world the worship is towards him, not to the way he pointed out. There is documented evidence that during the convocations that are regularly held there was a time when the leading expert Buddhist claimed that Siddhatha could not have found this way unless he was a God and from then on til today He is worshipped as a God figure.

In christianity Jesus made claims about himself that cannot be ignored. Either he was a fruitcake, wacko, (ought to be locked up) or he is what he said about himself (God). He never pointed to things outside of himself and never said follow this or that, he said follow ME.

Jesus pointed to himself and said I am the only way to find heaven, anything else is false. Jesus said about himself that he would die and three days later be alive again (he did this by the way). No one else that I've heard about has done this stunt. (No I dont mean find some technique to slow down his body functions and fake a death like the Fakirs in India do (seen that)), but die on a Roman cross (a technique the Romans had perfected) and then come out of his tomb healthier than when he went in.

It is possible that these things just dont mean anything to you. If not then please ignore them they weren't meant for you, but if they do mean something then we can talk.
