Hi. I just read your post over at the backroom chat room. I'm sorry you have decided to leave the conversation. I seldom post there, but I do lurk quite a lot.

You're right. We're all anti-Bush. I consider myself a moderate. I used to be active in Democratic politics, but got a belly full of it and just walked away from it. I disagree with many of Bush's positions. But I agree that it is unwise to paint everything in black and white terms. It is both unfair and inaccurate.

I was very upset over a conversation some months back over at the Forum about America's lack of concern about the opinions of European countries. I was trying to explain the way many Americans feel and was just savaged - mostly by teens who don't have a clue what life is all about yet. It was a similar situation. All black and white. No room for moderate opinions. And I just unsubscribed and never took another peek.

By the way, I have a friend named Mark Lamb. He is a CPA and has helped me with accounting questions at the library. smiley - smiley

Hi Hyp, I understand. It is just that there are people with more expertise than I and who read all the latest journals that feel the opposite. If some of those would come on board and make a discussion out of backroom politics I think we all could learn.

I have not come to any site to spread hate. I just like to talk to people and have a chance to say what my thoughts are. I have learned a lot at hootoo. I have found people who have just as many problems if not more than the ones I face. And many have taken the time to be encouraging to me.

The thing is I really don't think I can make a reasonable case for pro vs anti on abortion, flat tax, social security, death penalty. I am not educated beyond high school and I graduated in 1961. I don't read magazines anymore.

I find it humorous that the same people who believe that Terri Schiavo should die but do not beleive in abortion, and vice versa.

I find it strange that Michael Schiavo the day after taking Terri to the hospital went out and hired a lawyer. That Michael fought so diligently to get the insurance money so that he could help Terri and did not spend one penny on her for rehabilitation to see if she could have had a life. That he would not let other doctors see her to see if she could be helped. That he does not divorce her and let her parents take care of her. I wonder if he is afraid of what she might say if she were able to communicate.

One day I googled Mark Lamb and found all kinds of lawyers, doctors, musicians and even a pro hockey player. I found a site that sold trading cards and bought some signed by the hockey player. I had no idea there were so many and probably a lot more.

Having an extreme dislike for Bush does not make some one bad. I know of no librarian that is evil. All my life they have been a gentle push that has kept me going. I can see in my mind all of the ones that I have known when I used the library.

I will monitor the site and maybe I will get upset enough to argue a point or learn something from a point being made. I like checking out the sites that get listed as it is difficult to find all there is on some subjects. I subscribe to a couple of dozen news sites and run through them for article regarding current events. I love the site at the salon regarding ants. It was written for very young readers I suspect but it was fun to read and learn. I found out I knew quite a bit already about ants. I suspect that most people have a good knowledge of Ants and Bees.

Thank you for taking the time to visit. Tell Mark Lamb I said hi. I have worked with a few CPA's mostly auditors. I even ran into a CPA. Unfortunately he was in a car and I was on foot. I always was a bit of a flake.

I'm sorry your wife is so ill. I know what a strain being a caregiver can be. People who have never been there don't realize how exhausting it is. It's natural that you would have strong feelings about the right to die issue. It's such a shame that Terry Schiavo isn't able to express her own wishes in this case.

Please don't feel bad about not having a lot of formal education. Life is the best teacher. And truthfully, some of the dumbest people I know are the best educated. You're obviously very intelligent and know how to approach issues practically. That is a great gift.

Apreciate your sympathy for my bride. I am going to have to contact the neurologist as soon as possible. I see signs of rapid deteriorationa and I need to find out what I should do.

I wish they would do two things regarding Terri. One quit trying to save her from death. Two use a faster Euthenasia rather than starving. I mean not feeding her is Euthenasia isn't it? You really can't expect her to survive without nurishment and you can't expect her to die quickly by depriving her of nurishment. The whole things smells of stupidity.

Let's say that she had a living will not to have life support. If she dropped off into a coma and the only way to keep her alive is feeding tube they would let her die of starvation. That could take a week and could be longer. Our medical people and our jurisprudence people need to get together and redefine life support and euthenasia.

Oh and one more thing. I heard that Michael wants to have her cremated after death. I hope that does not prevent a thorough autopsy. Although I have no idea if after fifteen years they could find anything. But I think they nee to try and determine what cause here condition. What I don't understand is why MRI and catscans were not done in the beginning except that they may have needed Michael's permission unless there was strong evidence of external influence on her condition. I would think these should have been ordered by the hospital regardless. We may never know if she could have been saved fifteen years ago.

I've heard so many contradictory things about this case that I don't know what to believe. Both sides genuinely dislike each other and poor Terri is caught in the middle.

I hope you and your wife have a nice Easter.

Hyp,

Your right. And it looks like they are going to squabble right up until she dies. But I read that starving is actually a mellow way of dieing. Some doctors report came out and said she will have little if any discomfort. I hope they are right.

Thank you on the Easter wish. I hope you and yours have a pleasant Easter as well. I took Monday off and I hope to try and get my budget in order and some cleaning done.

It will just be my mother and me for Easter this year. So it will be nice and quiet and uneventful. Which is better than having a fight, which is what tends to happen when everyone is together.

Good luch on Monday sorting things out. I need to do a lot of that. smiley - erm
