My wife and I took our eldest daughter to see the local minor league baseball team play today.
The Harrisburg Senators lost to Norwich 7-1. The other team hit a grand slam home run and even though it wasn't for the home team, my little one was still excited.
We ate hot dogs and peanuts (but she doesn't like Crackerjacks) and lots of other junk food and had a great time.
I'm inclined to believe the highlight of the game for her was shelling the peanuts, but she had a good time and that's what counts.

'When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school,
it's a wonder I can think at all...'
With those words, Paul Simon began the final song of his concert at Hersheypark Stadium tonight. He was touring in support of his 'You're the One' album and even though he recently turned 60, he's still crazy after all these years.
What a great, great show! My wife and I purchased our tickets as an anniversary gift for ourselves - and as luck would have it, we were in row 13 and I ended up in seat (yep, you guessed it) 42.
Simon played for a solid two hours combining songs from his brilliant career and recent stuff from the 'You're the One' album. Looneytunes wrote a great review of the album that everyone should read at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A526664 .
I've seen Simon in concert twice now (both times in Hershey) and I'd encourage anyone to attend a show if they get a chance.

Again, it was a great performance and if Simon's next album contains a reference to the Pennsylvania Dutch food Funnel Cakes, you can blame the crowd in Hershey for it.

Just returned from holiday.
My wife and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary with a two-day trip to the mountains for some hiking and 'private' time without the girls.
We had a great time and I'm rather giddy at the moment so you'll please forgive my silly grin. I'll write some Guide entries about the places we visited, but as for the rest...
Oh, and today *is* Friday the 13th so have a care and don't walk under any ladders.

As I take time to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the birth of the United States today, I would like to leave you with this interesting take on nationalism and its application to h2g2.
'We get along very well as individuals, but just the moment we become the Americans and they become the British trouble is not far behind'
- John Steinbeck, 'Once There Was A War'

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
