My name is Gecko. I was in exile for 3 months from h2g2 because of my Identity mix up by SSO people.
My screaming for HELP was heard all over, but only one GOOD SAMARITHAN picked me up and got me back to h2g2. His name is also JIM. ( Jimster) I have a prejudice that Jimis are GOOD people. Am I right or wrong?
I am 1 year old at the beginning of December.( I don't know the exact date of my birth at h2g2)
I need a Guru for not to many or not serious problems. Would you want to be a GURU to a neighbor on Long Island? I know a bit about Pennsylvania! My investment firm is there. Is that a good recommandation? This is my signature
Gecko
P.S. We have a mutual Friend: John-The-Gardener.

gecko!
I'd be happy to lend a hand. What seems to be the trouble?
And as far as Jimis being a good sort, I've been off-site for over a month with no explanation...
But I'm back now.
again!

Hello Jimi X! Thanks for your reply. There is no trouble here, only I think to make a nice Personal Space for introduction with some fancy GML I might get stuck in the process.
Have done one some time ago also with very consistent helps of GURUs who did not let me quit. But than after a long tedious work I deleted the page anyway, because it was boring.
Of course this could happen again, and I don't know how much effort should I invest knowing myself as "gecko", fast moving little creature, hanging upside down--- yet feeling just fine.
I see many of the "fancy" Personal Spaces and I really would recommand to change it, because they ALL become outdated.
Other than that I love Pennsylvania mostly because of the
agriculture there. I am a country girl at heart, though I lived many times for years in cities including New York City for 7 miserable years. But I found my way to Long Island where I have my own domaine though have a lot to complain about the climate here.
I am going to "study" your Page, how are you doing now? Just so much for tonight to let you know what I am up to. I'll start the process when the Spirit will move me, and see when and how I'll get lost as usual and I'll scream: Help!

Do you know about the 'testuserpage' function?
For example, to see the GuideML of my personal space, you would type in the following URL:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/testuserpage53353
It's a handy little feature to figure out things/steal GuideML code.
But if you've got any questions, do feel free to give a shout.
My personal space will be changing radically after Thanksgiving (I always like to decorate for X-mas!). But until then, feel free to snoop around and 'snip' what you like.
I'm afraid my space is rather dull compared to some, but it has the advantage of working in all the various web browsers that I utilise.

Jimi X, dear Neighbor --- shortly after I contacted you in "Searching for a GURU" I got ill. It would be a great subject for an Edited Guide Entry to write about the stupidity of physicians with M.D.
Actually I got sick because I followed an "advise" of a doctor whom I did not know. It was a real task to get out of the ditch he got me into! ( Running to ER twice) searching for the right guy..etc. but WHO SEEKS, WILL FIND... true! Reestablished my well being..
I don't have to tell you about the BLIZZARD, and Holiday Rush and so on.
My Personal Space is just there, perhaps who ever runs into it would say: not worth bothering! I agree.
My present day routine is baking cookies and scatter them all over to those whom I spoiled over the years with these
X-mas "things". I am going to cheat a little though: buy some cookies made by professional bakers and got my time a little for other activity free: MAY BE... ( work on GML?)
Holidays are really what we make out of it. I look forward the Winter Solstice--- and like to sleep 16 hours on Dec. 21! So much for today!

Now is a month later! Jimi X hope you have a Happy New Year!
Holidays are long gone, gone with the last year! But your very nice X-mas page is still there! I enjoy reading it.
My health got reestablished so well, like never before!
I needed this strenght because as the brutal winter hit us (I don't have to tell about to a neighbour) one has to be physically and mentally in good condition to put up with Nature's activities.
I gave up on my personal page with GML,
Lately when I am lurking hardly find GML pages from new researchers.
Ancient Brit who was a major inspiring factor for a GML page,-- he made a very nice work on it, but than he left h2g2 to find new excitement in the BLOGGER WEB PAGES!
So much for His inspiration, he was really good in every way on GML.
But since the very beginning of my h2g2 existence John-The-Gardener
is always with me, now almost every day for exchange of many thoughts,- technical advise and the weather ofcourse! ( In Alaska is not as cold, as it is here some days!)
I wrote some articles in connection with AIDS/HIV and submitted to Collaborative Writng Workshop and so got very useful "collaboration" from JTG also from Fords Towel!
I let you know these events to bring you up to date why I did not follow to "bother" you to make a GML personal page.
Now I have to fix the articles to make them for useful Guide Entry(s)
if you interested the Entry # A2185184 and Entry # A21194599.
Both are " under construction". that is the end for updating you.
It would be nice to say end for this " historic" deep freeze also, which seems very inappropriate for Long Island USA on the same Latitude with ROME in Italy!

I'm planning to take down my virtual decorations as soon as I take down the RL decorations at my house. It's been a bit crazy at the X-household this new year, but I'm hoping soon we'll be ready for the Valentine decorations.
I'll shuffle over to check out that page this week (promise!).
As for the weather...
I've never minded the cold as much as the hot, humid mess we get down here in the summer. But for me the only season is autumn!

Jimi X as far as weather: you speaking exactly my words! Cold is better ( in moderation though) than the heat in the summer in this part of the World! True!
But that kind of an event is totally unexeptable when rain comes in semi-cold temp., than becomes freezing rain as getting colder, than for the fun of it hail like hard particles falls on one head and finally gets so cold that is good only for snowing.
The result of this mixture is that in the morning nobody is going anywhere until proper equipment breaks up the ice under the snow, tonnes of salt with sand is spread and great amount of Dollars being spent to make the road eventually passable for some automobils, which are very much likely will get into accidents on the treacherous, bumpy surface to go on.
This is how this week ( January 18-19...) started here in NYC region in a Happy New Year!
___________________________________________________________________
But not to loose our original subject: GML. John-The-Gardener has a very helpful-- as always--- note telling me what Jimi X is saying.
( See his conversation with me at this very same time)
GML is for those who really enjoy doing it ( Ancient Brit like people)
but my quick moving gecko interest does not seem to develope that sort of interest. My explaination: In Milleneum addition Microsoft WORD gives great technical readyness to create fancy Text presentation in a very easy and quick way! When somebody knows a better way, it is hard to go backwards! Sure h2g2 browser will not pick it up! So much for that!
My personal Page was never complieted like other researcher can do,- but again: Variety is part of Zest of Life,--and so much for my variation. I still enjoy the continuity of our conversations in this community!
Thanks GURU JimiX to let me get way on the "bumpy" road of GML.

I am back JimiX in my search for a very clever GURU. I am at the right place I can see that, because you made your Page Up to date! Very nice! I really like it.
My question is: how do I transfer an article from Collaborative Writing Workshop to Peer Review?
A2185184 is the number in Collaborative Wrting Workshop of the article " Short Study about AIDS/HIV"
Fords Towel and John-the-Gardener helped me with corrections and to make some changes. After extensive search and work, I feel, that I could submit to Peer Review. But don't know how to do it. Thanks for your help! Gecko
P.S. I hope the balmy air got to you also, we had here 43F, lot of sunshine, melting snow and smiling faces all over town!
