Just poppin' in as one of the ACEs or assistant community editors here, we greet/welcome recent registrants like yourself. We also supply them (you in this case) with a few 'places of interest' around the site. I suppose before going any further, I should offer you a

? Actually you can use any of those icons - or smileys as we call 'em - by consulting the long list @ A155909 . It has simple instructions for using each one & should you ever need to refer back to it just type smileys into the search window.
Now then...for a welcome other than just mine, you can visit the 'Welcome page' @ A53146 , or since you're new, the 'I am new, what do I do now?' page @ A868098 . And as I said above there, don't panic...take the <./>dontpanictour</.> .
You might want to look at 'spicing up your page' @ A690518 , or perhaps the 'picture gallery' @ A692741 . And of course, like any large community h2g2 has a nmber of Clubs & Societies, you'll find those listed @ A660340 . After checking a few of those out you may just want to sit back with a & the paper. Well h2g2 also has it's own newspaper <./>thepost</.> , which comes out every Thursday. (I should mention that if you come across any confusing terms, such as "PGGB", you can find a definition in 'h2g2 jargon' @ A632431 .)
Two of my esteemed ACE colleagues have compiled lists of links designed to help recent registrants (or newbies as we refer to you).

One of the things Feisor suggests is getting out & meeting people, so with that in mind I'm extending an invitation to pop by my space/page sometime.
