Hiya BS, Grizzle here. I shall attempt to combine these two & explain how they have influenced my life. They do indeed seem to go together; often as one is being forced to go, one desperately needs to go...

Invasion: i was living in Kuwait when Sadman Insane decided it was the 19th province of Iraq.
http://www.kuwait-info.com/sidepages/gulfwar_invasion.asp
It wasn't a great deal of fun, as you can imagine; i'll write more on it later, but it's amazing how you get down to the basics "oh s*it, i need to, i can't, nowhere to go, i can't think straight until i do, this could be used as a brilliant means of non invasive psychological torture..."
Asia,Arabia, Africa...In Continents like these, invasion is an everyday affair. Bring a porta Pol Potti "when they knock on your front door, where you gonna go?"

Indeed, the very same Angoulême. I shall endeavour to supply further information.

That's the official stuff from the Mairie, it claims it's been translated into English. Bring your own salt, you will need more than a pinch.
Pretty picture. There aren't normally quite so many cars, this was taken during the Circuit des Remparts vintage car race. I live behind the church, Blart lurks slightly further along the remparts.

Cheese & wine from round here all in one tidy link in English. I deserve a medal.

Plus we have some very good music stuff:

Very good open air concert, 10,000 people, not one arrest or any trouble, free bottled water & i went backstage to the band. Wearing my h2g2 T shirt of course "I write for BBC online." Totally 100% true.
Grizzle.

Hi
That pic from the ramparts reminds me of Clifton near Bristol looks a nice place though. So what started this travel thing then you seem to have a few stamps on the passport to brag about. Tell us about it how about a personal entry on the subject on your "my space" area.
It will make good reading ..

Yes Bob, you're right Angouleme is France's answer to the dilemma...where shall we put Clifton /Bristol? they are so alike they should have been twinned instead of Bury in Lancs ( which I don't know).
A friend came to visit me here and said they same thing. She has a flat in ......yep, Clifton and has now bought a house here in Angouleme.
More later,
Blart.
