Fitting my own clothes

Post 1

Herenna - southpaw for now

It's not something I enjoy, nor do I do it very often. But I like the end results. smiley - cheers

Being shorter than average, a lot of clothes need taking up a couple of inches.

But, having come from a long line of dressmakers, I was using a sharp needle (under supervision) almost before I could read or write. A lot of things were not so much taught as learnt by just sitting in the same room and watching. Including fixing the gaping front of a blouse by adding a small press stud (aka popper) in each of the worst gaps.

Anyway, seeing as I've got more time than money, it makes sense to do repairs and minor alterations when I can (and need to). smiley - smiley

Thanks for stopping by!

I learned to sew a little bit when I was very young, but never kept it up. I do do some minor alterations, like taking things up cause I'm slightly short too. But I do almost all my work by hand, not on a sewing machine. I never could get the hang of the machine.

My mother thought she could sew long after her eyesight was too poor to actually sew, so I took up a couple of pairs of pants for her (poorly) on the machine and she took credit so it's OK. smiley - bigeyes

I've also ironed on patches to favorite pants which the dog ripped in his excitement to see me once or twice.
