Thanks for dropping by!
I'm OK. The play is a comedy and the theater is one of many small independant theaters here. I am running sound for the play. I do technical theater and have run lights, sound, backstage around town. I have started stage managing in the last couple years too. The play is going well but attendence has not been what we would have hoped. One of the papers did not attend or review it. One of them attended but then the reviewer couldn't decided whether he liked it or not and refused to write a review and the weekly rag gave it a mixed review. So press has been lacking and audiences have been light. I think the people who've seen it have liked it. We have tried to fill it in with spouses, NFGs and other family members. (my I am talkative today)
As far as all the men? Haha. Well when it rains it pours, huh. The emails I had gotten from that one guy from highschool gave me more confidence than I usually have to flirt with the actor. Unfortunatly that feeling has passed and I am much less certain that the actor is at all interested. pfth. Well hope that's not all TMI for you! haha.

No it was not TMI for me. All conversation on HOOTOO is good.
I'm having quite a good week. Work has been slow but has begun to pickup a bit. Lots of other things are going quite well for me. I help organise a bike rally which is happening soon so we're almost all sorted for the event to take place. We just need people to turn up and make it a success.
Do you work for the theatre or is this a hobby? What do you like about it?

I am working for this theatre now. I will not work there after this play ends. They may call me again to work on the next play they do but that won't be until fall. Most small theatres don't keep employees on staff they just hire us for specific shows. I also work at a community theatre which never pays so I guess that part is a hobby.
I like several things about doing technical theatre. I love watching the the process the play goes from the first technical meetings, to crude read-throughs, 3-6 weeks of rehearsals and on to opening night. I usually like the people I work with although not all of them. And I like that the job goes on for a couple of months and then stops before it gets too boring.
Is the bike rally for bicycles or motorbikes? Is it a fund raiser? Will you participate in the ride in addition to organising it? Glad to hear you're having a good week. Mine's not been too bad either.

Hiya
The bike rally is for motorcycles. I'm involved in some of the organisation, I send out all the tickets plus a few other little things. We do raise funds for charity and hope the people who turn up have a good time. We run our own bar with beer and we have bands playing music on Friday and Saturday evening. On Sunday we clear up amd everyone goes home. It can be good fun if the bands are good and the crowds are as well. We get about 1000 people turn up so it's usually a good event. We all put in our time for free and take holiday from our jobs to run it. I'll be able to tell you next week how much of a success it was, the event is taking place this weekend.
Other than that I've been catching up with my family tree searching. I've been contacted by someone who thinks she may be related to my great grandmother (whom I never knew). So that could be fruitful. I await her reply.

I see motorbikes now that I look at your page more carefully. Is it like Sturgis? http://www.sturgis-rally.com/ I don't think they raise funds in Sturgis though. I'm sure they have beer.

It's a similar sort of thing to Sturgis but on a smaller scale. We normally have our event in a field with people camping for the weekend and we do have a beer tent. There are bands playing in the evenings and silly games in the afternoon. Our event is only for the weekend where Sturgis goes on all week. The weather is looking good for the moment so I hope it says fine all weekend. I'll keep you posted.

Yeah, Sturgis is huge. My city is on route to Sturgis from the east. Well start seeing waves of Harleys passing through in early August.

It's been a week since the event finished. We only got about 700 people turn up. The event ran smoothly with very few problems, just not enough people turned up. The weather stayed sunny and dry. It was very hot on the Sunday when everyone was going home. I was very tired when I got back home. I was falling asleep in the chair but had to stay awake to look after my little one. His dad had looked after him for the weekend and had gone to bed.
Not much else has happened to me this week as I've been trying to get back into the swing of work.
How about yourself? What's been happening to you?

I'm glad the event came off well even if turn out was light. Surprising that, since the weather was nice. Maybe it was the heat.
It is hard going back to work after an event like that. I hope you're work week is going well.
I've been busy and a bit off. My play ended but I'm starting rehearsals for another one. There are more details in my journal if you're interested. Right now I'm trying to work myself up to washing some dishes.
