Hellie, what did you think of The Village? IM me.
That's funny the pledge to save American liberals by marrying them and taking them to Canada, but PCandy has a very good article link in her journal that says that, seriously, liberals must resist the urge to leave the US or the red states.

I got that article from PC as well and I actually agree with it. I do have several friends along with my brother who where seriously thinking of moving to Canada, though, and I thought the above was funny. I *think* its a joke but my brother would be happy to marry a Canadian either way. I agree with the article from PC, that's it's more useful to stay and fight here. In fact I almost think I could make more of a difference somewhere other than MN or Cal (my current two choices) and I should move somewhere else in the US instead.
*Let's see if this will post*

I spend a portion of every year wishing I was moving to Canada
This year will be no different.
I'll wish. I'll stay.

Jesus,(no offence, just a way of speech for Irish folks), this strikes me as ridiculous; so possibly HALF the population of America feels that the US policies are so out of line with their own personal viewpoint that they would seriously consider relocating elsewhere if it was possible?
Personally, i NEVER now announce tbat i am english, i proudly say "i am Irish" & am seriously investigating ways of renouncing my english side, i would do a "marriage of convenience" to french or Irish if necessary
...not that joint nationalty of irish, iraqi or british has helped that POOR POOR woman, Margaret Hassan, who seems to have been forgotten by the world's press....until they start cutting her apart; I AM thinking of her; ALL she tried to do was help.
sh*t on politics. It is supposed to be about people. It's NOT, it's about money & power. PROVE ME WRONG BUSH OR BLAIR!

We're just hurting right now Terri, we need room to grieve. We thought that the destroying of the environment and nightmarish war we are embroiled in might be slowed or even stopped. It is hard, very hard, to sit back and see this Prez claim some sort of "mandate" to do whatever the hell he pleases.
Some people voted for Bush for good reasons - fear of terrorism, a genuine belief that abortion is wrong, fear of taxes that they just can't afford. So I'm not going to rip into anyone who did vote for him - hell, both my sisters did. But I am not going to happy for a good while. Especially this month.

I am hurting too. It affects the entire world, one of the things that's wrong
People here just said "that's it, we are f*cked; the USA controls the rest of the planet; Global opinion from the man in the street in Europe, hah hah hah; as for your average peasant in the 3rd world, they just see "THE SUPERPOWER"
I just honestly feel we have had it; politics is becoming so polarised, because of the GAPING divide between "haves" & "have nots"; society as a concept of a community has gone, it's just survival & hang on to a dream stuff; we may well be the last of the line.

Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque Posted Nov 8, 2004
I think its going to get worse before it gets better but when people wake up to the mess Bush has gotten them into the Republicans will be unelectable for 20 years.
That at least is what happened to the Tories here after the Thatcher/Major years. Pity what a Blair turned out to be.
