Jerms says:

Rach says:

Jerms says:

Rach says:
ok im good. as to where this leaves us, i dont see that much has changed. there was no kind of arrangement or commitment on either side so whats different? obviously i wont come down or you wontcome up but i dont have any ill feelings towards you. i dont know if thats mutual or not.
Jerms says:
brb phone on my end now
Jerms says:
what's different is that I feel I've lost you as a friend, and I'm fairly sure I haven't done anything wrong. So that much has changed, at least. I have to go real soon, sorry.
Rach says:
yeah thats cool. i think you are too self involved to see much than your point of view, at least im trying to see yours
Rach says:
i was making an effort while you were here, but i dont much see the point of continuing it
Jerms says:
and that's the tone of voice that started this.

Guide ML

Dear god I love this language... It's the programming equivalent of cooking a meal out of popcorn. Here's a rundown of the effort I put in last night:
8pm ish: finish (plain text) draft of the entry for the SPCV.
8:30pm ish : have read through the notes in the GuideML clinic, to see how it works. Am a bit worried I'm missed something at this point, because it looks too easy.
8:45pm: It /is/ easy. Have just added two pictures, and am about to start adding links.
9pm: Have made three errors, in total, so far. Twice because I copied the numbers down wrong, and once because I missed a quotation mark. Total time wasted: about 6 seconds. Would have been 4, but I was looking at the wrong link, to find the missing quotation mark, for about two seconds.
It's taking longer for the pages to load than it does for me to note the number (eg A123456) and make a link to it. This stuff is so EASY!!
9:05: I'm swearing because I just closed the wrong window and lost everything.
9:20: Have rewritten everything. Was much quicker this time because I knew what I was doing. Still impressed.
And I'd like to point out that it took me about an hour in total to update the SPCV entry, /and/ my intro... while I had strange women trying to distract me with naked photos on MSN as well. (Which severely slowed me down, of course )
Dear god I love popcorn code.

Right!
Now that I've had a good read at the GuideML Clinic, it's time to rewrite my first ever guide entry...
Wish me luck.

Memo to self: buy a memo pad.

The code for my new flat will be 3859. I feel safe in posting it here, because I know that the only people who will see it either live too far away to care, or don't know where I'm about to move to anyway. Oh... except for Chucky. I think I can trust him. I hope so... he's the one who told me the code.

Just for the record
Posted Nov 2, 2003
I'm sleepy. But there's not much point going to sleep now, because it's 3:30 am and I have to be at work at 8. I would have gone to bed much earlier, but my womble of a manager thought that I could happily cope with working evening shifts (ie. finishing at midnight, and then spending an hour walking home 'coz the busses aren't running any more) one night, and then working early morning the next morning. At least I got out of starting at 6:30am, by arguing that the busses weren't running that time of the morning. I feel stupid now for not noticing the inconsistencies in that argument.
Pity I only checked which shift I was doing today (this morning) after finishing my shift last night (at midnight); too late to complain to my manager. I'm sure they didn't do it on purpose; just didn't notice, same as me.
And I just spent the last two ish hours trying to find a particular conversation so I could post a fact they were trying to find - people were debating which bridge in Australia it was that had "Nippon clip-on's" to widen it. For the record it wasn't even an australian bridge, it was the Auckland harbour bridge. But I didn't find the conversation, so it's probably a moot point anyway.
And I feel like typing more now, but I have nothing left to say and don't want to start blithering.
mmmcoffee!
