Hi there,
You mentioned that you hadn't seen this sequence before...
How it works is shown in between the 5th and 6th (there are 10 altogether) so DON'T scroll down to the _middle_ of this post if you want to work it out yourself
Although I recognise the sequence, I have aboslutely no idea if/how it could be 'predicted' by a formula
I think it has something to do with primes...
Anyhoo...

Each line describes the preceeding line (apart from the 1st line of course as it doesn't have a preceeding line )
line 1: Start with 1
line 2: 1 one (or 11)
line 3: 2 ones (or 21)
line 4: 1 two and 1 one (or 1211)
line 5: 1 one, 1 two and 2 ones (or 111221)
etc

Wow, that's very clever! Okay, now on to working out a formula… (I'll have to think about it for a while, but you can bet I'll be thinking about this when I SHOULD be doing other things .)
