Titania (gone for lunch)

*floating in*

Hi there!smiley - smiley

From what I've seen so far of your postings, you strike me as a person who might possibly enjoy the conversations over at Lil's Atelier.

Mind you, the backlog can be quite fearful, and the topics range from profound to silly, with a sprinkle of role playing.

If you'd fancy paying us a visit, the main page is here: A304354 and the latest conversation thread is here: <./>thread=3497956&latest=1</.>

Feel free to lurk for a while if you wish - although you don't come across as being easily intimidated smiley - winkeye

T,
Thank you very much for this warm and most kind invitation. I can't help being flattered to receive such a nice surprise. It certainly is worlds better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick for sure. smiley - winkeye

Actually, I must admit to feeling just a bit overwhelmed recently, not just by H2g2, but also by RL. I already find that h2g2 can have an insidious way of crowding out RL, which I suspect may not be too healthy.

At any rate, as you suggested, I may at least do some lurking, which often leads to chiming in, etc.

Thanks again. smiley - cheers
JCN

Tried going to the thread you gave, but it didn't work! Did, however, briefly visit the main page ... looks interesting. Thanks again for the invitation.

Gah! I shortened it a bit too much and left out the forum number - try this instead: <./>F38024?thread=3497956&latest=1</.>

Oh, you're absolutely right about h2g2 taking up time from RL - didn't anyone warn you?smiley - tongueout

One of our resident cartoonists even drew some cartoons on the theme 'You know you're addicted to h2g2 when...' for smiley - thepost:

Yes, that link works. Cute cartoons ... thanks!

The following story was in my newspaper yesterday, making me feel even more guilty than I did already: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/10/AR2006111001571.html

Hmmm... well, I'd say that as long as you don't spend *all* of your spare time on the Internet, and as long as you don't make it priority number one in your daily routines, you'll be OK.

Personally, I find that the amount of time that I spend online varies quite a lot, depending on RL commitments, happenings, workload and stuff.

But I do find it a comforting thought that whenever I need them, my online friends will be there for me. And since they're from so many different parts of the smiley - earth it won't matter much at what time of day/night I log on, there'll almost always be someone around.

I do prefer the 'messageboard' form of communicating rather than 'chatting' - although sometimes a 'chat' does have its charm as well, being so instantaneous(sp?). But the big advantage with places like h2g2 is that you don't *have* to communicate instantly - you can take your time catching up with things even after several days offline.
