Hey there,

LL Waz

Hi there Zantic - good luck with the waiting list. I recently had to wait to go on to a waiting list. Now that's a waiting list dodge if ever there was one. "You can ring for an appointment in thirteen weeks", the appointment is then 6 months on...Good part was that when I saw him he did the (very minor) op right then - no more waiting and all sorted out.

Hey again AR1smiley - smiley. Don't say no more family background! I like it and I have ear bashed in return. Mine is not so exotic though.

"two love-torn middle aged dears" smiley - laugh I like that. They are, aren't they. But you're being much more generous than some I've heard on the radio.

Is the toe ok? Your mistake, AR1, was in not appreciating that you are privileged to have a septic toe and so incur a visitation from an NHS angel. You should have been waiting on the doorstep on the offchance! Not sitting there in your headphones like some teenager smiley - winkeye.

Actually there are nursing angels, we have one where I work. She is endlessly cheerful and caring while carrying an enormous workload both at work and at home. It's humbling. People like her are let down by the others - I'm glad you made your feelings heard.

Take care of the toe,
Waz

Oh Waz,

You work so hard and stay up so late. I do not know how you manage it.

I loved your family background and have lots of questions I want to ask.

I absolutely do agree that there are lots of super people in the NHS. I just seem to have had very bad luck both with district nurses and podiatrists. Anyway, I now know that I have lost feeling in my toes as the iodine which was put onto a raw infected toe did not even sting or hurt!.
Apparently that is something that one has to be very careful with because otherwise one's toes etc. just get gangrene and fall off!!. Oh dear. There is a wonderful jazz singer - I cannot remember her name, whom Dick and I heard singing in San Francisco in hte 70's who died ten years later with both legs off!. I suppose that they did not know so much about diabetes then.

I am having another visit on Tuesday. This time I shall sit at the window gazing outside until they enter. Then I shall usher her in. I still do not think that they should treat people rudely. At least I can answer back. Think of all the poor people who are completley overawed by such treatment.

Well. I am on massive anti-biotics as well so hope that it will cure all my other ills.
End of bulletin. 'Nuff said. Shall not mention it again. I was put out by it as you can tell.
I shall write about our mutual friend this wekend.
Have a good day.

Zantic - Who is this woman??

Thanks Waz - they came through this time and I got the op appt. within a month. So I'm off to the hoppytal on the 22nd.

Most of the time the NHS folk are really good - it was just this particular consultant that got up my nose right and proper. But I later found out that he is like that with everyone.

smiley - goodluck with the toe my dearest AR1. smiley - hug Gangreen comes too quick and easy and the only option then is removal to save the rest of the foot. I saw this happen on one of the several thousand trauma progammes my cable brings me. This guy had waited over a year to get it seen too, so you should be OK!

AR1! I didn't realise you only found out there was a lack of feeling when she used the iodine. That must have been horrible.

You need to take care of it. My Dad, though, lost feeling in his foot in his twenties (put it through a basin, if you please). It's been fine but he has to take special care since he doesn't feel any damage.

The only incident with it was when he got his toes, which had curled a little, straightened. They put a pin in and when they came to take it out it wasn't there smiley - bigeyes. Now if it had fallen out into the bed they'd have noticed wouldn't they? We await its reappearance agog...it's been years and we still wait...must be in there somewhere. Perhaps it's assimilated, Borglike...

I don't work hard generally - just certain times of year. I could manage things better but, you know, there's always better things to do smiley - smiley.

Hi my dear,

Hope you had a good weekend. Mine was OK - very cold, and I had to go out yesterday struggling with my w/c as my brother needed some cash. I shall write about our ananymous friend if you do not mind. It was a very personal and a very close relationship.

How on earth did your Pa put his foot through a basin? I think I run over my toes with the small wheels on my s/c. I do not use the foot rests so that I can propel myself around with my feet - this makes me much more independent!!. I believe that the loss of feeling is as a result of diabetes and this is what they do not like.

I have a super friend who is a teacher and who is going to take K and I out on Thursday. I am wanting to go to the wonderful exhibition which is on at the Tate and which features, Turner, Monet and Oh dear I cannot remember the third one. I have just tried to find it on the web but unfortunately cannot and so will have to phone them up when they open at 10.a.m.

Have a good day my dear. Hope that it is not too cold. i am so pleased that you have met my super friend Zantic. She is very special and I met her at the one and only summer meet that I have attended whilst she was still in London.

Oh my dear Waz, smiley - sadface

Please forgive my delay in replying to you and write to me!!
I miss you and want to know what you are up to. Perhaps you have gone to Spain again to look at the beautiful flowers. I have a marvellous bowl of iris unguicularis - very deep gentian blue_ flowering. They are beautiful the only problem is that I cannot see them at all times from the house as they are behind a bush. I shall get K. to move them round.

Last night there was a lovely programme on Alpines. I have always loved them and when I first came to england I had a lovely collection. I shall go back to them now I think.

Have a good weekend and I hope to hear from you soon.

I emailed earlier, AR1. And thanks, again, for yours. You have been through some times!

I am going to Spain again, flying out on the 19th and back in the middle of Easter. Time before last we climbed this hill in Frigilliana. I think there was once a fort up there. It had a flat, grassed over top with a scattering of small trees. And in patches around the edges these small, maybe three inch high, beautiful blue iris growing wild. Magic, finding them there like that.

Hope your iris are now in view,
Waz

Heyla AR1 , LLLWazz.

Just a quick noet to hope all are well and to let you know the laparoscopy went fine. No serious problems found. So still need to discover the source fo the pain. The doctor has suggested trying a dairy free diet smiley - wah and if that doesn't work a wheat free diet smiley - wah Life is currently too hectic so I'll just deal until it calms down enough to pay attention to what I'm eating! smiley - winkeye

Lucky,lucky Waz,

Please do a climb for me. and please note ALL of the wild flowers that you see!!. I look forward to a blow by blow account of them when you come back. It is so nice that my dearest Zantic is joining us now on this thread. It makes three generations - Me(or I!!) the oldest and the grand-mother and hopefully-inclined philosophical sociologist; LLWaz, the middle Bear(!!) the botanist and environmentalist and our youngest Zantic smiley - dragon, the research geneticist. I think that we make a well balanced threesome and we should enter some challenges!!

Dearest Zantic litte smiley - dragon I am glad that they did not find anything dire wrong with y9u. Do you have scars? I shall suggest a few things when I email you!!. That should put you right immediately.

I am now off to watch Ready Steady Cook. I went to the quack this morning cos I had some problems. fortunately the dreaded Cwhich was a possible reason was definitely ruled out. The doctor was quite appalled at my hands and my legs. think of what they would be like without the massage!!.

I am beginning to think that i should have drunk a lot more in my life. When I look at some of my friends who have really enjoyed their tipple, and now here they are, lean as anything, and walking like mountain goats, I must admit I feel slightly envious!!.

With much affection to you both.

Zantic - Who is this woman??

Two tiny little ones - one in my belly-button that had a little infection (yeah for the powers of penicillin) and another below and to the right. Microsurgery is the best. The worst I got from it was the cold I picked up in the hospital.

Pickling yourself helps only so much - it can cause a lot of other problems and as far as my grandparent were concerned didn't do anything to help with the arthritis (except numb the pain a little!)

Enjoy your programme. I haven't been able to watch it since Fern left!

Hi my dear Waz,

I really do not know what happens to my page/membership. I have managed to lock myself out of h2g2 - am told that I do not exist - never have, my email is not correct. Honestly.

I have taken a new runname GenJoanofac ( I spelt it wrongly luckily - it sounds dreadful properly spelt.!!) But still cannot do anything with my page. When I looked at the instructions for newcomers, I saw that one could contact the aces. Firtunately I recognised an American friend of mine batty, got to her page, and then got to my page because she had me down as a friend!!. And then on my page I found you. But it is in weird colours. Have they changed the system or have I gone batty.)

I shall be 77 9on Monday. I had hoped to have a happy chat to you all. Now I shall have to scurry around like a frightened mouse trying to find someone.

I send you warm greetings. Wish I could just go back to Also Ran 1. I do not feel like a GenJoanofAc!!

with affection

Christiane smiley - schooloffish
How are your sisters tadpoles? Big frogs I should imagine!!.
Do you remember tree frogs in Zim?They were so beautiful. Do you remeber chameleons? We had so many in the garden, and I used to always try nad have one on my big flower arrangements - loved watching them change colour!!

Incidentally I had not realised that any of those refugees from the Congo had stayed on in Zim.

Hi my dear little Zantic smiley - dragon

So glad to hear from you my smiley - love Better late than never!!

I am absolutely thrilled to find my postings all together,. I really do miss my friends so much, and darling Waz has managed to put everything together. Even Pan is with us. Hoorah!!.

Now I do not mind being GenJoanofac so much. I shall still write and tell them, after the industrial action. I suppose that you will not hear anything about this until after tomorrow.

I cannot even write a journal because I no longer have a space, number or list of friends, or facility for putting down friends. I met a sweet liitel Geology graduate from Ohio who sounded so interesting - but could not guide her to anything.

Anyway Waz my dear. I shall send you an email - and thanks for giving me back our correspondence. I found it really fascinating!!.

With my fondest smiley - love to you all

Hi Pan, long time no see smiley - smiley, have you been on AR1's smiley - bubblyies, you've dropped a 9.

AR1 your first homepage is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/U186829, and the second one's at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/U516677.

I found out why I couldn't log in to h2g2 from my sister's these last few days - my niece had actually listed all the web sites her parents regularly use on their PC as sites to be regarded as high risk and given restricted access to. This included the entire BBC web site, and dozens of fairtrade and triathlon sites! I informed on her smiley - evilgrin.
