How kind of you to drop by Amy. I am OK generally.
I know you are studying for a doctorate and I think that is in another subject than physics but I've just forgotton what.

I don't go out much. I like to work with my hands. I do enjoy my pen pals on here though. My drinking is under control at the moment and I have to remember my medication fot that. When I do succome I tend to become irrational but not violent.

Sometimes I just pass out. But your crerebral blood pressure thing is troubling. I wish I could help. I suppose you just plug it out, puts my problems in perspective.

I hope I'll finish my doctorate one day but I need to get better first. I was/am researching alternative interfaces for computer based learning. I try to go into the University once a week to keep in touch but I think I'll have to miss this week because I'm not feeling well.

How did you come across h2g2?

I was looking for a BBC site on woodworking.
Got mixed up with all the political treachery and decided
to "intervene" in the name of democracy.

I am an Anglo-Viennese hybrid and as such we are (as a breed) well
used to mediating in East-West disputes. Second nature to me.
Besides I like talking with foreigners on the net.

And not least I get to talk to people like you who I would make a beeline for under any circumstances. Not Machiavellian..the truth!

Anglo-Viennese? How exotic! I haven't been to Vienna for a long time, I really must go back and do it properly i.e. not on a shoestring budget . All I can really remember is not being able to afford to eat.

What sort of things do you make in wood?

Not eating in Vienna..that worries me..exotic...??

In short I'm better with concrete and steel on a 6m grid
and a 70m elevation. Definitely not exotic A.

Do you expect to go back to concrete and steel or have you left all that behind you?

No Amy those days are done. Of course I mess about from time to time but my health is not what it was. My memory is bust you see.

I often stop and talk to the folks on the job. Of course the old light tecnicques have been superceeded by laser. The general raucos arguments we used to have about how to achieve this curve or that twist no longer occur. The little box tells you this, that, and t'other. Even tells the volumes and the setting times of concrete from ambient weather. Keeps running totals...does the lot.

No fun at all. So I dream and plonk. I keep off the drink. I try and keep sane. I am about 5O yrs old. But I loved physics at school and that of course is my link to you.

Oetzi, you say in a post above that you enjoy talking to a range of people on the net but when I look at your message centre it's full of threads about the difficulties you appear to be having finding an acceptable online voice. And we have some problems in Lil's Atelier too with you making quite sharp comments about the other salonistas. Comments which aren't being well received.

Do you think you're just finding your feet or are you setting out to be a bit antagonistic?

That is of concern.
I had not realised that fact.

I learned something new today that may be of assistance to your blood pressure condition.

I have to drink a lot of fluids brecause of my ailments which to are neuro related. I have been drinking a miscellaneous mix of hot and cold beveredges.

I should be drinking plain water.

Plain water is absorbed by the roof of the mouth and goes directly to the brain fluid lymphatic system. Here it dilutes and facilitates toxin release. I learned this from a reliable source today.

I hope this may be of some help with your ailment. I am not sure if this stuff is new or what. I suppose you should ask your physician before drinking too much.

How fascinating . I do drink a lot of water. I aim for 12 glasses a day, which is 3 litres.

I wonder how the roof of the mouth can distinguish water molecules from 'plain water' from those in flavoured water.

Good question I don't know.
