Well, there are some circumstances when a cold bath or shower is a good thing, ya know. Like maybe after a web-cam/MSN chat or two. But in reality, I suppose you could put the stock-pot on the stove/cooker, and warm up an adequate bath? With this heat wave (which briefly broke for us, before now returning) a cooler washing is actually a relief.
We had a nice enough week-end. Friday night, we were out to dinner with another couple, and then a panto play. A 'murder mystery' at a church BINGO hall. Quite amusing, and milady liked it as a birthday prezzie. She turned 29 again ... Then the rest of the week-end was slow-paced domestic chores and such. Nothing to stressing.
So how is the lad spending his time, now that school ought to be fully done for the season? I know that you've said that gainful employment isn't likely, at his age. After my first summer job, if I hadn't had something each year, I think I'd have lost the few marbles I had, from boredom.
y-s and other such nice things.

Oooooh just been outside on my break and they're filming a Xmas special for Dr Who just across the road infront of our local department store......makes a change from watching the drunks I guess
Bit odd seeing Santas at this time of the year tho

I was going to say, Christmas? In this blooming heat? Only in the UK, m'dear.
I just came back in as well, and it's like being in a blast furnace. Except much more humid that you'd expect. So I've decided that I will dig a fall-out shelter under my computer room. And hide out until ATLEAST 2007 !!! Pack in lots of beef jerky, marmite, and coffee, and let the rest of the world cook !!!
The tiara suits you well ....
tsarina Posted Jul 24, 2006
.....any room for a not so little one in that fall-out shelter......I'll bring my own marmite & peanut butter to make my own sandwiches Oh! and my own tea bags too ......not a great coffee drinker except in work cos the tea from the machine is undrinkable bilge water
Have to admit I'm not a great Dr. Who fan and had to be told by another bystander who it was ......the cybermen always had me hiding behind the settee when I was little..............................

I saw parts of an early series, ... probably the 60's. It just never caught my interest. Yeah, I know, that's tantamount to sacriledge around here, but 'tis true.
And certainly there's room for one more in the shelter. Besides, I have actually begun to aquire a taste for .
Soon done with your drugery for the day? Being old as I am, I've again forgotten your schedule.

I'm not a fan of sci-fi either......I prefer murder nysteries etc. Sit me down infront of Prime suspect, Morse, A Touch of Frost, Midsomer Murders etc and I'm a happy ......don't know if you've heard or seen any of the aforementioned but they're all cracking good shows
No'one should be allowed to work in a room full of heat-emitting computers when the temperatures outside are touching 32C ......I'm already having the sauna, now where's that ice-cold plunge pool......................dagnabbit......they've taken it away again . Oh well! It'll have to be a cold bath when I get home then

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Jul 25, 2006
I quite like a good Sci-fi, book or movie or TV. But "Who" just didn't do it. So in those days, I watched The Avengers. And of course, it had nothing to do with Miss Dianna Rigg in tight outfits.
And guess what? In this back-woods little colony, ... I have heard of and SEEN some of all the mystery folks and shows that you named. So there . Mind, we typically see them a season or two behind you, just as you get our CSI and such a year or so out-of-step.
Hmmmmm, sweltering ladies, eh? *slaps self a bit, back into the present* You have my sympathies, dear Lady. A tall cold drink and a cool damp cloth once you're home, I expect.
*blows loads of cool, breezy *

Hi Nick
Yes it's me and I'm still in the land of the living (just about <bugeyes>
It's been so busy here lately that I haven't had time to post anything to anyone and without a landline it hasn't been possible to ring I do miss chatting to you tho!!!
How's things over there? Hope all is OK with you and M'Lady?
The tiara suits you well ....
Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Aug 6, 2006
??? You HAVE been busy.
Life is pretty fair here. We survived a couple of back-to-back monstrous heat waves, the smog and the humidity. This week-end, being a 3-day one for us, is fortunately cooler, ... Between 24 and 27 C. And so we've a lot of stuff to catch up on. As well, 'tis the final week-end in this province for our ex-neighbor. The Mom of 3 girls. Milady has helped her through the whole packing, sorting, garage sale, etc, before she is gone 4,200 miles west of here. To live with her parents until they get their feetses under them. In fact, she has had supper with us 4 or 5 days of every week for 3+ weeks now. And is living with us for the 4 nights until her Dad arrives to assist with the lonnnnng drive.
So yes, I too have been busy.
It's all finally been confirmed, hotel room (king-sized bed) etc for my 2 weeks in New York state. From late the 13th, until the 25th. So if you find yourself making a wrong west-turn, ... <evilgrin<>drool>
Also, my middle brother-in-law should arrive around the 11th. With his mistress and 2 daughters. For a week or so of "Canada's Wonderland" water park, visiting with some uncles, and milady. For a week or so.
AND, ... around the 13th or 14th, my 2nd eldest brother and his new-bride (54'ish, but new to him) ought to be stopping in. They are currently in Newfoundland, visiting one of his 2 sons. And then driving coast to coast. We are just one stop.
In the end, L'Hotel des Keips will have the revolving doors in full operation.

So you noticed that my typing is a little cock-eyed today huh? .......don't know why I'm smiling cos there's no good reason for it......certainly nothing naughty or extra-curricular
So, sounds as if it's open house at chateau Keip for the next couple of weeks or so......and you're not going to be there to help out for much of the time it seems! Was that just darn good luck or careful planning?
Well, it's Dan's 16th birthday next wednesday (9th) and I've managed to get the day off and there's going to be a big family party cos 'Dad' is going off to live in Turkey with the new wife the very next day! Kathryn & Rob are coming down on the Tuesday with my georgeous little Lauren and they're staying til Friday. This time I might be able to see a bit more of her than I did last time they were here ......cos I won't be working or dashing around doing charity work.
Little Lauren will be 14 weeks old next Thursday ......I don't know where the time goes.......it only seems like 5 mins ago that she was being born!!!
So you've had the mindbendingly oppressive hot weather too. It seems to have left us for the time being, altho it was very hot and sweaty last night and we could've done with a good thunderstorm to clear the air. I think we've got more to look forward to cos they've said that August is going to hit some record temps too At least they seem to have got the aircon working efficiently again

M'dear, the justications for cock-eyed typing may not be happening in the R/L, but I'm sure that in spirit ...
And so the young man hits a version of a age, eh? From my own experiences, 16, 18, 19, and 21 ... Legal ntions of one sort or another, none meant anything to me. #16 was, in fact, the second one that my entire family forgot about. Having been there and done that 7 years earlier, I didn't bother to mention it until a week later. And just as happened the other time, I was thoroughly cussed at for not having "reminded" her. There've been 5 or 6 more missed onces since leaving their home. And yet, oddly enough, not one birthday of any of the other 5 has ever been missed. Some days, I wonder which tribe of the Romany left me there.
, some days that whole thing twinges ...
How-ever, you've a big day AND week. Gaining some fabulous and irreplaceable time with the newest little , and gaining a few thousand miles from another part of history. It sounds like quite a nicely productive and sweet week ahead for you. One favour, please? It's been well over a year since I could inhale and such a young bundle of sweetness. So give her one for me?
Anyway, no, I honestly did NOT plan my exit to coincide with so much family coming through. Nor does the fact that I have known the man with the money for these trips for, ermmm, ummm, 26 years ??? Purely coincidence, I assure you.

Hmmmmmmmmm in RL nothing has happened since January but in the imagination..............
I will certainly give a big and to the little one altho she might wonder who 'Uncle Nick' is
I'm really looking forward to this week. I spent so little time with them when they were here last time so I intend to make the most of it this time
it's getting busy again so may not be able to post again
& a bundle of til tomorrow

My dear, I understand that you post when that nasty stuff called 'paid services' allow. So please, never feel a need to apologize.
And tell ya what, even if a little doesn't know who that distant 'uncle' is, you just give her great loads of smoochies and lovings. They can NEVER experience enough of that. And be happy with one little notion, ... she IS within a reasonable reach.

Mmmmmmmmm I've had a lovely few days off and spent some wonderful quality time with my little . She really is totally and utterly adorable, except for perhaps in the evenings when she does get a bit grisly and grumpy!!!
So, you're no good at knitting and crochet then? .....never mind......am sure you're very good at other things
Just been reading through another thread and it seems to have digressed to a craft thread???

Things do tend to drift, don't they? I don't really stay long with a journal anyway.
I am now safely tucked into my hotel room in the US of A. Non-smoking, but with a little balcony and mild weather. So not all is lost. If you care to 'visit', just drop a note, and I'll forward directions.

So........hows the course going? Hope you're having fun
Should hopefully get the landline sorted out soon and be back in the land of communications. Will let you know as soon as that happens
& anothe big just cos you're on your own in the US of A!!!

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Aug 16, 2006
The idiot that arranged for the course really over-estimated. What he planned to take 2 weeks proved to need a day and a half !!! But we'll manage to fill the rest of the time. "Accidentally" learning of a number of other devices that this company has sold us. The biggest problem is thast their own rules and proprietary methods prevent the chap from providing the depth of information that myself and my 'mate' need. But that may be rectified by a return trip in a couple of months, when we can shadow the factory laddies for a week or two. THAT will be fun !!!
Yeah, I know, I gotta get me a life.
How's the stuff in your life, dear Lady H? I'm sure you are already again missing your little -girl. Gods, but they are so sweet, cuddly and simply loveable at that age.

Hiya Nick
Am working until 9pm my time today so by the time I drive home it'll be around about 9.30-9.40pm! Give me a while to get in and brew a cup of tea and get something to eat then give me a ring......
Hope you had a nice supper yesterday.......it sounded yummy ......your meals always do tho
Am hoping, if finances allow, to maybe come over your way in October or November. Do you think L'Hotel De Keip will have any vacancies? I wouldn't dre4am of imposing for the whole time I'm over there but maybe you could manage a couple of days???
The tiara suits you well ....
Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Aug 28, 2006
Indeed, supper proved quite yummy. And there was even enough for you to have joined us if you had wished. My bottomless friend (originally from Dewsbury) had his usual two loads, and lots was left.
I really do apologize for giving you the rush. Just that "Murphy's Law" of poor timings, eh? But in that time, you said something about hopefully having a portable computer soon? Oh, I do hope so. It would be great to back to occassional mails and chats.
Typically, my in-laws visit around the early part of October. But this year, they've decided to wait until the spring. Otherwise, about the only tentative plans have milady travelling to Newfoundland around the 21st to 25th of November. To FINALLY meet grandson #2, and participate in a baby-shower for grand-child #4. So, if you find yourself with tickets to this side of the Big Pond, Lady, you are welcome to stay as little or as long as you like.
How is today getting on for you so far? I've spent my first couple of hours back to work trying to put together an Expense Claim, ... for my last 2 weeks in Rochester, NY. That bloody currency exchange rate is likely going to be a real stinker before it's all done ...

tsarina Posted Aug 28, 2006
No need to apologise! Food must always come first and now that I'm back in communication then there's all the time in the world to keep in touch.
I already have the laptop and am just waiting for the broadband connection & wireless router etc. When all the bits arrive then I can set it up and get back online . Knowing me tho, I'll get it all wrong and have to ask Rhys to come and sort it out for me I should be up and running in a week or so
I've got over 100hours leave left to take vefore the end of the year and they won't rollover any untaken leave so am planning on booking about 3 weeks off sometime before Xmas and hopefully will have the funds to book a flight over to Toronto. Will have to find out about bus to get to Trenton tho......unless you have any info? Was going to hire a car at the airport but I remember you saying something about the airport being a nightmare to drive out of and getting the bus would be easier!!!
As for work.....I'm bored to tears and tired ......have been doing something called transcriptions nearly all day and it sends me to sleep it's so tedious!
Are Canadian dollars different to US dollars then? Maybe I'm being ignorant but I assumed they were the same?
