Homerisms
Posted Oct 10, 1999
No not the Greek Homer, I mean that other social icon Homer Simpson. I find it amusing the way we are influenced by the one eyed wonder. Virtually no-one (in the civilised world) is not affected by television. I included. I find myself often emmulating that yellow tub of lard. I'm sure there is at least once in your life that you heard or have done the now famous d'oh! It is now woven into our cultural fabric for years to come. I have my favourites and even a few stories that incorporate homerisms. If you to have favourites, stories or insights please share them.

pedophilia
Posted Oct 9, 1999
Over the last few years I've made a mental note of all the known pedophile cases that have occured in North America. ( Particularily in Canada because that is where I hail from. ) Now I have more than a passing knowledge with mental disorders and I find it puzzling that there is not one known case of a pedophile being cured or of even reconditioned or the like. I've heard it said that every pedophile that is released from custody will reoffend. What makes this more interesting is societies reaction to these pedophile's. Sure there is downright hatred but why is it that when these pedophiles are convicted they recieve nothing less than a slap on the hand for their deeds- i.e. in Montreal a man sodomizes his daughter for years, at his sentencing the judge gives him 6months in jail and sites, " I'm being lient because I recognize that you spared her virginity. ". Abore these beasts but encourage them through the message that it is O.K. to destroy our children for your sick perverse needs and we will not punish you. Puzzling I say.
