Assuming it's mechanically functional, and has a SCART socket, it's certainly usable, I'd say. More than that, it's usable for what I'd suggest is the way you'd appreciate watching telly, i.e.
(a) watching a very select bunch of shows that you'd recorded using your Mac as a PVR and
(b) watching DVD boxsets.
It's been, I think, at least five years since I watched a television show as it was broadcast, with the single exception of Doctor Who. Every single other show I watch is either recorded and watched when I've time, or we don't even bother attempting to record it and just buy the boxset and binge - watching one or two episodes every night. US series with 26 week seasons are good this way.
Of course, if it's not mechanically functional you're out of luck... but you've still got that Mac, you just need a projector...
