...My sideswipe at Christianity on the Della Wars thread, that is. I noted your earlier comments on insults to Christianity, and know your background.

In fairness to me, I'm a militant atheist fundamentalist. I'm against all religions and spiritually-based belief systems. I get most annoyed when people attack the easy target of Christianity with half-formed arguments which only apply to little bits of it. Jeez, if you're wanting to attack it, go for the jugular! On other threads, I devote myself to riling the hippy-trippy neo-pagans who seem to think that their brand of irrationality is somehow superior to another which - give it it's due - at least has the support of a couple of thousand years of intellectual tradition.

Anyway...what are the plans for Easter?

Ach, *I* cam't keep up with what I think. (I flip between buddhism and atheism and back again on the toss of a coin).

Drinkies on Good Friday, I thought?

You, me, Z, Liquidindian, Weegie and Zagreb, if we can grab him.

Z and I are up to Skye on Easter Saturday, so an early start for the drinkies might be a good idea, with a timely finish. Can't burn the candle at both ends these days!

Sounds good! (the drinks, that is)

As a friend of mine once said, 'Of course, I'm an atheist. Well...a Buddhist - but that's the same thing, really.'

Same as Unitarian Universalists. Humanists call them 'Humanists who haven't got out of the god habit yet'. They call humanists 'Unchurched Unitarians'.

It isn't so much religion I'm agin - that's a bad thing, obviously, but that's a separate issue. It's more the irrationalist mindset which says it's OK to believe, irrespective of lack of evidence. It's this that leads to such nonsense as 'You may think I was wrong to go to war, but you can't question my belief.'

Oh...and don't forget to schedule in a diversion to the Pictish brochs at Glen Elg. http://www.ancient-scotland.co.uk/site.php?a=80

The pictures don't do them justice. The cafe at the nearby Glen Elg candles is one of the few decent places to eat on the way. Great salads etc.

We are going up by train, so we get lots of scenery but no stop-offs.

We can talk about Schroedinger's God when we meet. I cannot *abide* sloppy thinking and the main reason I flip-flop between Buddhism and Atheism (or Nihilism, perhaps), is that they both make equal (lack-of-)evidence-based intellectual sense to me. Nothing else matches up to either of them, and they seem equally unlikely as views of the world.

Did you and liquidindian settle on a venue. We need to be able to hear ourseves speak. Oh, what about Mrs Bonobo? She'd be very welcome, so long as she doesn't mind a fair bit of site gossip.
