Just to answer your question about why Della calling me gay would be an accusation. Not wanting to get on the thread again.
To her she, as she thinks gays are sub-human calling someone gay is, to her, a snidey horrible hurting provactive insult. It is this that we tend to call upon when she calls any of us gay.
We are not actually seeing it as an insult being called gay at all. It would be like calling Julian Clary a 'hetro' and trying to be insulting - it just is not an insult to the person receiving it but I am sure it gives Della a wonderful superior feeling that she has mortally wounded me with the grave insult of being called gay.
Also, I did interpret your comment as 'why an accusation?' as 'well, you are gay aren't you?' which I thought was hilarious - not me being gay but my interpretation of the comment. If you get what I mean....
Anyway, as I said in my last post she is back into her destructive cycle again and destabilising Hootoo as some sort of power thing that she needs. Also, in the past it has fed the victim/accuser/rescuer cycle for her very nicely. However, this time I have noticed no one is really coming to her rescue like before. Those who were kind enough to do previously have now realised why people were challenging her: because the challenges are valid. I am going to try and stop feeding her needs.
I will also let her comment about me being 'self-centred' pass as a) it was said to get a rise and b) the people who matter to me know I am not. I am marshmallow-huggable-centred.
Oh...Hi!!!!! Mobile Missy!

Are you askin' if I'm a dyke?
It was merely a thought placed into the ether to see what people did with it. It is intresting that people thought it was a question, and interesting to see who they thought I was asking it of.
I remember the political-bis at uni saying "how dare you assume that I am heterosexual". The problem that most of them had was that they were, poor dears.
As for me, and as I've said before, I fall outside every categorisation I've so far come across.
Fair point about Della stirring again.

Which reminds me...
Sorry if the term 'omnisexual' irritated you, Ben. I was just repeating what RTD had said- that homophobia and/or any sort of 'label' for sexual preference is supposed to strike Jack as odd- and indeed somewhat quaint. Granted choosing to talk about it *using* a label like 'omnisexual' dulls the point a bit, but i f notice, in the series itself, no one ever talks about Jack's sexuality.

It just surprised me, KA, that's all. And my reaction was much the same as whoever it was who said "does that mean that he shags then?"
Personally I like the idea of using the term "sexual" to describe what RTD is aiming at with "omni-sexual" and then use terms like "heterosexual" and "homosexual" to describe those who have limited sexualities.
In sexual health medicine the terminology is "women who sleep with men" "women who sleep with women" and "women who sleep with men and women". This focusses on the health issues in each sexual situation rather on gender-identity or on how people categorise their sexuality.
It's very noticable on Gaydar Girls that some of the women advertising for threesomes categorise themselves as straight. You can see it in the photos they put up.

I've always categorised myself as 'randy'. It seems to just about cover it.
'Women who sleep with...' is all very well and good, but it's a bit of a mouthful (if you'll pardon the expression), isn't it?
I've known quite a few women who say 'I'm straight, but I sometimes sleep with women'. Hell, I went out with one once, for about six months. It was an odd experience, although enjoyable.

Yeah. Socially I categorise myself as straight. Until I start having sex, that is.

It's in the diary (well, my phone, which functions as my diary)
I promise not to inflict my local on you.

Mrs Zen Posted Jan 20, 2006
Why not? Your local has taken on mythic status in my mind. I think of it as a taller version of the Dwarf Bars in Ankh Morpork.

Well, that's an interesting way of putting it, Ben. It's probably more like The Mended Drum though. Fights happen, but nobody really means it. And yes, the barman does have a handy piece of wood behind the bar, just in case.
