You should be completely upfront about it...people can easily cope if that's what's needed.
Well, fisk you.
2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Sep 12, 2011
All the badgers are belong to me!
Well, some threads, can benifit from quoting, others don't need it, and in both types of thread, it can be used agressively, to disrupt the conversation, to take cheap digs at a particular researcher etc... Its when quoting is misused when its the problem, not quoting itself...
Well, fisk you.
Lanzababy - Guide Editor Posted Sep 12, 2011
When it boils down to it - I come to visit h2g2 to have a good time with my friends, not argue.
*keeps the panthers on a tight chain away from 2legs badgers*
Well, fisk you.
Effers;England. Posted Sep 12, 2011
Why do you find Lesbians, Gypsies and women working so boring.
I think the first 2 threads have been excellent.
No I don't find it in the least dull.
What I find dull is all the thinly veiled personal attacks.
Well, fisk you.
Lanzababy - Guide Editor Posted Sep 12, 2011
I'm going now effers - but before I do, please accept that what you may see as an attack on you, is nothing of the sort.
Well, fisk you.
Effers;England. Posted Sep 12, 2011
Which attack?
Anyway it doesn't much matter...my mate tarrantoes nearly walked yesterday because of the perceived harshness here. I persuaded him to stay.
But I completely agree with him about the general atmosphere here.
I doubt it will change on noohootoo.
Well, fisk you.
drt Posted Sep 12, 2011
I must say I have not noticed any thinly veiled personal attacks on you effers. Although I am not looking for them as you are.
I have noticed some not very thinly veiled attacks though. And I don't like it either.
I do not agree with you most of the time and I do not like your style. There. That is an honest attack. But, you have as much of a right to be here as any one of us, and your opinions / style/ sexuality / mental heatlh / anything else about you are your business. If they inform your debate then so be it. You have a right to be heard. If I do not like what I hear that is my problem, and I can ignore you, change the subject, reply to someone else or go elsewhere. I do not need to make personal attacks against you to make my point. (If I ever do please tell me off!)
I personally like my debate intellectual. By which I mean emotions are an interruption! I have emotions, I just use them carefully. Effers and some others are seemingly artistic types whose debate is occasionally all emotion. Fine. I will engage with them when I can, when we are at the same 'level' and when I cannot engage, I won't! Simple as.
(Sorry effers, that was not just about you, were just a handy example.)
May I also say here - Mrs. Zen - How much I admire what you are doing for h2g2. Not only with the successful bid, but also with your repeated attempts to start *serious-ish* discussions. I think the intellectuals and the emotionals both apreciate it. Anyway, enough toadying! I return you to your regularly scheduled argument...
Well, fisk you.
drt Posted Sep 12, 2011
Well, thank you for calling me thick. Personal attacks eh! As I said, I'll leave you to get on effers. I am sorry you feel that way. Good luck for the future.
Well, fisk you.
Effers;England. Posted Sep 12, 2011
Just talking straight. I'm used to people not knowing what I'm talking about to do with the mind games.
For some reason I seem to a be a focus for that.
Well, fisk you.
drt Posted Sep 12, 2011
Look, I am very sorry effers. I do not wish to make an enemy of you, and I think my posts have been very clear, but I am going to end this discussion now. I do not wish you any ill, but you are too much for me. I wish you all the best for the future, and I really do hope you find somewhere else you can be at home if you are that disillusioned here. Good luck, and I am sorry that I do not want to debate with you anymore.
Now would anyone else like to talk about the OP? Rationally?
Well, fisk you.

"personal attack!"
Why are you attacking me?!!? I demand to know!!
Lanza, that link made no sense to me but I can't tell if it's because it's not the right one, or if I'm just being dense, or if there is Something going on and I'm out of the loop again
Taff's link on the other hand...
Well, fisk you.
