It seems to have been formatted as HTML but saved as raw text - as in I can see all its tags. Unfortunately, the "edit" link has dissappeared so I can't repair it....

Hey Duncan!

This has been happening to a few of the articles which have been sent through using the new editing tools. The 'Newcastle' article also had this problem. Apparently the system just parses everything as text, resulting in beautifully formatted, html-ready articles which don't look right.

All that can be done in this case is to let the uber-editors (Anna et al.) fix it up before it gets to full publication - I don't have editing access to it once it's reached this stage either, unfortunately. I'll let the PTB know what's going on, but it is a fairly common problem, and I'm sure that they will fix it up, even if I don't!

The article was a good one, by the way - but it fits in quite nicely with all those other things we've got stashed away about 'American Slang' and 'Australian Slang', etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the PTB want to re-format this one to make it part of that series. This may result in a little delay in publication, but ultimately a much larger hit rate for the article. We'll se what happens, I guess...
