Well I Never

Have you ever heard of a Roborovski Dwarf Hamster? A little tiny scrap of fur with meltingly beautiful black eyes, just a little bigger than your thumbnail. Did you know that said little critters can get acne? Have you ever tried getting medication into something this small without doing either of you damage? IT'S NOT EASY!
I now have three of these little ones, all sisters. The third one, Zhi, we had a battle to get our hands on. She has bumbledfoot a variation of a streptocolcle infection. This is only contagious to human beans and hamsters through open wounds. The poor little love is in a little tank all of her own. Why, you are asking, is this a problem? Dwarfs as a rule have to live as pairs or in groups. At least here she is not lonely. Her tank is next to her sisters and she is surrounded by standard sized hamsters.
You may be asking if it is fair on Zhi to keep her going. Do you put down a human with arthritis? No. She has frequent flair ups of infection. These are dealt with with baytril (a hamster anti-biotic) and she has anti-inflamatory drugs as bumblefoot affects the joints and the legs and causes swelling. She is happy, spoilt rotten and adored by everyone here, human and hamster alike.
Zhi is a happy, bright inquisitive little bit, with whom I am developing a very close relationship. She spends hours sitting or playing with me as she cannot go in her ball because it would cause to much pain. She evn curls up and falls asleep on me. As long as she has a good quality of like that is all that matters. SO if you ever have a hamster will bumblefoot. Patience, perseverance and love and you have a wonderful relationship.

Seasons Nostalgia
Posted Sep 1, 2006
Summer is all but gone now. Phew. I love autumn and have done so as far back as I can remember. When I was a child (we are talking 1976 on) I can remember the end of September would bring mist and fog then frost. Glorious frosts that as October progressed became more frequent and more spectacular. I love the smell you get in the air, coal fires from the old part of town, milk frozen in the bottle on the doorstep...........oh and the bottle frozen to the doorstep!! The colours of autumn with a frosty coating. The spiders web picked out in finite detail.
What happened to those autumns of my childhood???? Waking up in the morning and the condensation on the window was solid ice, school closing because of burst pipes. The mists in September when you see the spiders webs.
There is seven years between my beloved and me, he is the younger. In his childhood a child of the middle 1980's these autumnal events were all but gone. However I have regained a little of what I sorely miss, since moving to Eastbourne a lot of the properties near us are still coal fired, all victorian or older and we do get some cracking frosts. However I still long for the Octobers of old of daily frosts and the scents it brought.
If you are wondering I am 32 my other half is 25.

My Kingdom My Kingdom For A Little Peace. If Not Ear Plugs!
Posted Aug 20, 2006
I know the little chap is called biker but he still looks like Biggles, which brings me to the point.
Airbourne. Those of you mere mortals that live in Eastbourne will know the feeling of wringing eardrums and a four day old headache.
Airbourne is fantastic, spectacular air displays, the beautifull Spitfire. Does not really compensate for not being able to think let alone hear yourself think. I keep hamsters and one of my poor babies is a very sesitive soul and is suffering more than a little stress.
If you do not have to live with the event for four days I highly recommend you come to the next Airbourne, sometime next year. If aircraft and chucking them around the sky is the baby for you then come to Eastbourne. Mind though book a place to stay if that is what you want at least three months in advance or you will be sleeping with seagulls.

New Job
Posted Aug 18, 2006
Starting a new job is never easy. It does not help when some individuals you have to work with think that because you are young and naturally of a shade of blonde you have no brain cells and make it known by their attitude towards you.
I have been off sick because of a previous tt of an employer since November last year, now fit I am an assistant manager in a charity shop. This work is tough in a variety of ways. All of the volunteers are , been working in the shop for the last century and a bit more and think they know everything when in fact there are many till errors, do not know how to take cheques. They do not even dust! The manager and I and a few of the volunteers are of a mind, despite the generational gap. But I do not look thirty two, I look about eighteen to twenty and subsequently have no idea what I am doing and they refuse to accept my authority. I need a VERY large !
