Traveller in Time looking for missed announcements
"I thought for a moment you did receive a Guru badge
The procedure is to leave a message on the right page and just wait. Well perhaps it is an idea to try to get informed around the site first .
Beeing a Guru is pretty dull, most of 'our job' is covered by the ACEs the only niche left is knowning the technical ins and outs.
Nice trick 'Jim Lynn' showed not possible for us users however. "

I don't really want to be a Guru I just "landed" there I would be more interested in learning how to make smileys.
My extremely good friend ChiKiSpirit lives in the land of the laptop and not been connected up to this wonderful assortment of wires.
Any help from you would be greatfully <received

Traveller in Time lurking all the site
"Well it appears to be like that. You have read the Community Art- volunteers pages.
Actually it is not that difficult: draw an imageabout three times the size of the desired smiley, crop it with a blurring tool (the edges becoming faint) save it as a gif (max 16 colours) or jpg (max 256 colours). You have your smiley.
Be it local on your own system. You can upload it to a personal WEB site and display it there. You can use this in your email if you have an email program to include it as attachment.
A smiley to be used in conversations here on dna would have to be created by the CA's and uploaded, just what 'Peet' wrote. Smilies use don Entries or Personal Spaces can be made in many different ways. None really efficient and compatible however. "

Traveller in Time on three computers
"Remember the good old times of DOS systems ? Something like that, a cheap monochrome monitor, black background and 'white' (actually amber) characters.
I use several old computers under Linux to program a bit and to browse the dna site 24/7 "

No, I don't. I am fairly new to technological gadgets.
My uncle was better at that sort of thing than me.
Thirty years ago he built his own computer out of a TV set.
It was interesting watching him at work.
