Hi Mandragora,
Ben sent me this way to see if I could pick your brains a bit. I will be getting hitched next year and I am having a bit of a trauma with wedding dress shopping. I am thinking about maybe getting a dress made so I can have exactly what I want and could do with pointing towards a good dressmaker in the south east (in the Reading, Wycombe sort of area). Ben thought you might be able to recommend somebody for me.
Am enjoying fantasising over the ideal dress but not sure I will find it in real life - it would have a corset back (like the Maggie Sottero dresses) with some sort of gathering to accentuate the waist (again like a lot of Maggies) but with a chiffony skirt that skims and flatters *sigh* - don't want a huge meringue! Anyway, enough dresswaffle - do you know of anyone I could talk to?

Hello, sorry for the lateness of reply but I've been elsewhere.
hmm... I don't really know any dressmaking folk outside of the immediate local area, but I do know that devotion.co.uk are lovely to look at and sort of south-eastern. As I recall. However they also look to be waaaaay expensive... But there are loads of photos on their site, so you might be able to pull a design or two from there? (Not that I'm advocating knock-offs o'course. Oohhhh, I would *never* do that! but judicious use of 'inspiration' can go a long way.)
Sorry if this is too late a reply to be any use to you, but you can come here and dresswaffle any time...
