I just want him to get some kind of comeuppance. Not because of his scepticism, but he's so bloody arrogant about it... him and to a lesser extent, Richard Dawkins; they irk me as much as the more strident fundamentalists, since they are so convinced they are right. Nothing wrong with that in itsef but it's rude to diss everyone else rather than afford them some common courtesy.
Sympathy. I do that as well re. places; this year is reminding me a lot of last year- I am going to the same places etc.- only it's better.
The stress! The stress indeed of reading several fine publications at once...

Have you read the 'special' issue yet? My favorite part was 'letters from the edge';

"I am writing to ask you for a full list of strange phenomena which have happened in the past and up to date. thank you very much"


And as for the one about the "strange blobs" which look like chewing gum, but *obviously* aren't!

Oh man- it's *so* scary that we share a planet with these people.

Scarier if the gum turned out to be true!
A cunning disguise- watch they don't suck the boots off your feet...
plus the letter beginning "As you know..." from 'broadcasts' they had been receiving, or something... or the chips man who was going to sue them if they used his photos.

My favourite letter ever was in one of their books though; a man wrote to the paper opining that delinquency could be stopped if men started wearing proper hats again.

You know- i always thought that.. Proper hats-yes!! That's the answer

I wonder how many of the authors of those letters read this issue.. and will that bloke sue

Didn't really read the history of FT bit though, cause i'm sure they did a very similar article a few years back when they went monthly. Apart from that, good stuff
