What happened to the article on knitting and crochet? I have written one on machine knitting or rather machine knitted fabrics, but wonder if it is too specialised for hootoo. Being a relative newbie I'm not sure.

I can't actually remember... if it was one I was going to do or a to-be submitted one. I had one coming on crocheting spiderweb lace which seems to have fallen by the wayside. There wasn't that much interest in the Craft Centre so I sort of let it lapse... I can chase up some interest if you like.
was there any particular information you were looking for?

I was checking out h2g2 for gaps in the guide.
I wondered whether anyone would like to collaborate on some craft related entries?
Your craft centre entry looked as if it would discuss the differences between knitting and crochet, but had only got as far as an introduction.

The idea was, for folk to randomly submit craft-centre type articles and I would shuffle them about into categories with brief descriptions. Your idea sounds fine (sorry, forgot to mention that important point in my last post...) I am up for a more detailed discussion of knitting if you would like to collaborate. (On other topics too if you have more in store.)

There does not seem to be much on knitting at all, except people joking about knitting and crochet.
I've learned that what we call crochet hooks are also known as crochet needles. Is that the American term?
Could we start a conversation in the ask the h2g2 community to see if anyone is interested in contributing/collaborating?
I am a hand-knitter and a machine-knitter. I cannot get crochet to come out the right size, although I can use it to edge knitting.
I also have done tapestry and hooked rugs.
BTW I tried your link to spiderweb lace and the front page came up.

I don't know the American terms, apart from the stitches are named one up from the British ones; i.e. single is double, double=treble etc. Confusing... will have to be mentioned.
I can try and find out the old craft centre thread in AskH2, if not will start another one.
I do handknitting but have taken more to crochet because it's faster and I prefer the range of styles (motifs, Turkish crochet etc.) Turkish crochet is my favourite- fantastic things with beads.
The spiderweb lace pattern I requested from another user, but she was busy... I will try her again if she's still around, and see if I can coax it out of her. (I had no luck finding an online pattern.)
