You do realise we will never make any difference to these people. I have been trying on the evolution - creation front for ages. When faced with simple facts they avert their eyes.

For me it's just entertainment mostly. Hence 75% of my comments just take the p*ss .

I am trying so hard on the evolution front. I feel like I'm so close to successfully pointing out that science and religion are different. Dumb and obvious I know, but I feel like I have a duty. Or a mission from God .

I loved it when Josh took the bait about the Bin Caleb comment. I really should try harder not to take the p*ss, but it was so funny when he said that my lack of patriotism clouds my judgement. It just showed what world-view he really has. And I'm not even American!

I have to argue with Caleb after he implied I was a total wasted bed-hopping slut, though. It says a lot about his supposedly un-perverse mind that he should think such things about total strangers... lack of patriotism! Hurrah! Notice he ducked out again after that... convenient. That comment of his should be cutn'pasted into 'What's Wrong With Americans?' I don't suppose he's ever spoken to non-countrymen before.
Alan P- I can only watch him in small doses since it's so cringeworthy. Strange that I've put up with Caleb this long tho.

Puppets and Lego!

Josh *is* strangely quite. Whenever either of them speak they just get worse. They are in it up to their eyeballs and they obviously don't know what the hell to do. *snigger*

I once would have thought that a place like h2g2 would be good for isolated poor young lads like Josh and Caleb. Now I just think they poisen the place; they are not going to change, they are just going to profoundly offend a ton of people along the way.

What can we do?

Apparently, there are booklets which tell you how to spread the gospel with the help of balloons, and teach the Word of God etc. with puppets.
I think it is good in that they are, to quote someone else, being 'lampooned to the skies' and may in time either think, "Hmm, I may be wrong here..." or bugger off in a huff and never speak to us again. I think we should just keep prodding.
It's entertaining if nothing else.

Brainwashing children. Pure and simple. Sad isn't it? Or are the puppets for the adults?

Yeah. They are either going to shut up or change. Win-win situation if you ask me.

astounding... Josh has admitted to being wrong! Tho' I wouldn't say he's 'like us Brits' at all. When terrorism happens here, nobody'd really surprised.
Which is undesirable, but in some ways might be better.

To be fair to the lad he will admit to being wrong. I got him to change his mind over racial profiling (see the start of the "Racism and the Right Wing" thread on his homepage). I think that's why I'm keeping at it, I feel like I just have to find an angle which he will see the light with. *shrug*.

He isn't stupid, just stubborn , now Caleb on the other hand..... Years of indoctrination in Oklahoma cannot be healthy either. I have a feeling I could get along with him perfectly well as a person, it's just those opinions of his driven by his right-wing religious upbringing. Well, y'know.

Now we've made progress with the debate for the first time in 150-odd posts, we should hope caleb won't turn up and ruin it! Whatever he says though, it's guarunteed to make me laugh.

Mm, he does seem more open to proper debate. However I've met only solid walls in trying to get him to at least respect my beliefs in another thread- I'm not telling him he's wrong but he doesn't seem to have room for any other options.
