Wouldn't you know we'd share another interest (I refer of course to the original interests of breaking doors in the interests of feeling sexy, and corsets)! Are you also the only woman in your group? I've now married my storyteller, so we can do more than breaking doors when the nights get long and cold!

We're a fairly balanced crew; we are all friends from my drama group. There's me and Queex, who runs the show most days, unless I have a story I really want to persue. And my two business partners, also female. Sometimes there's Squeek, who has big hair and wants to shoot everything, but with occasional flashes of brilliance; Richard, who likes to shout 'Mmm, Buckminsterfullerine!' at odd moments, and Guy 'the Lovely' (15 but also 45, disturbed, may own an inflatable sheep, occasionally takes snuff).
Our current system is Feng Shui action-movie roleplaying, but we are branching out into Furry Pirates. It's all very manic.
So far there's been a fight in Ann Summers, with one character using a spiky bra to dispose of foes... and then we went back in time to 1830, taking our Sewing Oblong corsets with us. Joy!

Our group is what remains of the 10 or so people who used to come to our house... we currently have four regulars, all mid-20s, and a couple of games alternating. Not got our own homegrown though - Kindred of the East with an excellent imperial character (if you've been to my website and seen my pictures, Noriko is up there. Don't be concerned because it's not very good - I only started drawing in February!)
We are starting the new version D&D currently - I'm not keen on Hack and Slash, but everyone else enjoys it :¬(
And I have a running one-2-one with Husband, which started in White Wolf in France, in 1750, went back through time to pre-hysteria (sorry! pre-history!) and then ploughed forward to Roman times, when his character (same one) had a fight with God. This started the Dark Ages, so he became one of his character's relatives in the same world... More recently we've played the original character in AD&D, and now we're playing a completely different (hooray) Dhampir in Los Angeles in "a Dark Future".

We once played a game set in Leicester, set about two days into the future, and the GM said "It's a Dark Future" so often we've adopted it as a justification for anything!

We've had many bizarre things happen: one character, Splenda, is a monster who can appear in either human (librarian) or big and scary flying form. When, in a sewer, we encountered an unpleasant dragon, it was suggested she seduce it (seduction being one of the skill values you can have). She did so, and now (after laying a fine egg) has a miniature version called Gwen. The baby doesn't like her, and is more attached to my character because I saved the egg from being smashed.
Also the thief Raven (whose family are from Ireland) encountered a handsome young fellow in the 1800s who she ended up 'spending the night' with. In the morning light, she noticed a certain family resemblance, and he then announced that he was going to begin a new life in Ireland...
Nothing weird like this has happened to my character. That means that when it does it's going to be extreme.

Sounds good! Mina - how do you bring up a child in the middle of a roleplaying group? (Something I figure I'm going to have to know sooner or later!)

I tried to pick role-playing boyfriends, but despite a large number of hints and a couple of real hunks, I only got lucky with two. Sort of three, but numbers 1 and 2 nearly came to blows over me; Number 1 got a snog and never came back for more, Number 2 gave up before he got a snog, and I got so stuck in with Number 3 that I married him (eventually)!

We've had a very large number of good quotes over the past eight years (since the beginning of my rp history) but I've never kept a diary - this is a great pity... If I think of any good quotes I'll let you know!

We had a meeting today, with everyone present for the first time in 3 weeks. It involved rivers of acid- always fun. Probably our best quote so far (mostly, they have nothing to do with the plot) has probably been from a visit to AD 69:
-"It's old language, when they put an 'e' on the end of everything."
-"Right, let's go to the pube."

Ohh, you're doing well... I normally get told off when I disappear mid-game to have play piano or computer! I guess that could be because I'd be upstairs all night (I get very caught up in doing something other than what I should be doing!)

Oh, those days of studenthood! I miss a lot! Nowadays we're lucky if we meet once per week (apart from Husband and me, playing daily) ...(perhaps I should amend that to "roleplaying daily"?) Back in those old days we could stay up till six - that's not happened since January, and that was the first time in about a year. Oh, I really miss!

We're supposed to meet every Thursday, but that rarely happens. There are all of us crammed into my room, which is never tidy, and so there's a lot to distract us- amusing text messages, pretty optical illusions, stuffed toys, private jokes and things you find on the floor. It takes a lot of shouting to resume order. (The current favourite is to put the top off a container of Revels on anything- absolutely anything, be it hand, hobby horse or traffic cone- and say 'Shalom' in a deep voice. Fun.)
It was just me and Queex playing at first, in a tent... on holiday where he bought the book for it. Others came running. Internal feuds can be a bit awkward, though- I'd not want to spend my free time with anyone I don't like. This hasn't been a problem yet since I'm not involved with any groups outside my circle of friends.

I'm not really here

We manage every Tuesday, most of us turn up, (4 plus storyteller) so it's good. We used to do sundays as well, and we'd have anything from 4 to about 12. That was too many for me.
Anyway, I left my hubby for someone I met roleplaying, so that helped bring the kid up in the group. smiley - biggrin I just left him with his dad. Now he's older (6) I get a babysitter in. although he has been known to come with us in emergencies.
When that RPGer left me I started a casual sex thing with another one, and that caused loads of arguments. Then I decided that a third looked really dirty and I decided I wanted him, so told my casual to sod off. I'm not sure any of their friendships have stayed the same since, which is sad. The bloke that left me still acts like a stupid idiot all the time. And it was 18 months ago. So remember, men that still roleplay into their 30s have not really grown up.
