I read someplace that you like Astronomy and things star-related....

So I thought I'd invite you to h2g2 University's Department of Astronomy at http://www.h2g2.com/A338816
The Department is part of the new collaboration scheme in which Researchers with like interests get together and write up entries on some chosen topics.

Also, there's a link page to all the edited Astronomy pages in the Guide at http://www.h2g2.com/C717

Come and join us! I'm sure there's a project there that you'll be able to help out with.

Why yes, I do...

Thankyou very much!... The invitation is much appreciated, I'd love to join. smiley - smiley... unfortunately, I have no imagination whatsoever, so you'll probably have to prod me to make me think of something to research.. smiley - smiley.. Also, I'm in the middle of exams and things, but as soon as those have finished, I'll be un-busy once more.

If you're interested... Someone else who's a space-science-y person is Krans Hopeson (http://www.h2g2.com/U125985). He's mainly an astro-engineer, but he may be handy. smiley - smiley.

Actually, as an afterthought... Do you mind if I research the more cosmological end of things? I'm inclined that way. smiley - smiley

Peta had us pick certain topics for further research earlier this month. So we're locked in to doing the ones we've already selected, but that doesn't preclude you from doing your own cosmological pages. smiley - smiley

Do pop by and see what we're working on. Who knows, there might be something there that strikes your fancy! smiley - winkeye

So this means I have topics defined for my research?

Having looked... I like the look of both "Why Astronomy?".. and "Telescopes". (There aren't any really cosmological ones.. smiley - sadface )... Actually, I like all 3 of the ones Beeline took. smiley - smiley... but it does look like he's exhausted them already. he's written rather a lot.

In the University scheme, some Researchers volunteer to direct research into some chosen topics, in this case Joanna has decided to do the Solar System, I'm doing Meteor Showers, Phases of the Moon and the Messier Objects, and beline is doing Telescope Making, Near-Earth Objects and an overview on why astronomy is important called 'Why Astronomy?'

This is a new thing on h2g2 called the Field Researcher scheme (or something like that) and you'll be able to find details on Peta's page.

btw: The url of the FR page is at http://www.h2g2.com/A339059

Hope this makes more sense! smiley - smiley

Y...I... hrmph. yes, I understand. Sorry if I'm not making much sense, but I'm not only thoroghly stressed at the moment, but I'm half asleep. Probably my fault.

So which topics are open for more researchers? *waits for reply and hopes he's made more sense this time*

LOL!

All the topics posted at the C717 or on the Department's main page are seeking input. smiley - smiley
