*grins*... my clarinets are still sitting upstairs in their big suitcase case. (I swear, when I get my case out, people think it's a sniper rifle or something... I open a huge case and start assembling things behind the top of the case, because it looks too big for one clarinet ((it has two in it)) ).

nono. A and Bb. :-p... Lots of Symphony Orchestra Music is for A clarinet as well as / instead of Bb clarinet. For example, if you ever play any Borodin, eg. his Polovtsian Dances, or his symphonies, they switch between a and Bb clarinets.
Morning from Peer Gynt (Greig) is entirely for A Clarinet... which is why it's important to have a nice A clarinet when playing first in pieces like this (bad A clarinets, and orchestra A clarinets (The two terms are synonymous) are awful).
