I've learnt my lesson!!!

I didn't tell you, I had a test ride of a Harley V-Rod a couple of months back....

Oooooh. Did you enjoy it? I sat on an 883 once. Too big for me though!!

Too high - or too powerful?

Oh not too powerful!!

Just too high. Especially when you only have 27.5 inch inside leg!!!

Couldn't reach the ground on both sides!!! And one one side only tiptoe!!

The V-Rod was really low. The only problem I had was having to look to see where the pegs were when I'd stopped at some traffic lights or similar. I simply wasn't used to them being so far forward.

The bike was absolutely fab, I'd have one tomorrow if I had a spare £15 000!!

I had the same problem when I went from the Eliminator 400 to the Virago 535. When I was pulling off I kept hitting the floor with my feet!! Took me about a week to get used to the pegs being so far forward!!

I suppose you get used to anything with a bit of practise.

I've just added some washers to the internals of my front forks in order to add a bit of pre-load, they feel a whole lot better now and it was a no cost fix -

Well, the Virago has been put away for the winter. Really miss my independence during the winter, but I refuse to get her either wet or full of salt spray.

Good plan. I suppose I could take my bike apart and do something about it's general lacklustre state.

Are you going to the show at the N.E.C. I'm going to see if I can blag another Harley ride!!

When is it? I did go to one there a few years back.

We bought tickets before hand then the day of going, we lost them. Had to buy more on the door.


Three days after we got back, we found them.

We also went to one at the GMex arena. Wasn't as big as the NEC but just as good. Sat on a couple of bikes too but not a Harley.

I sat on a Harley at our local showroom. An 883. It was that heavy I couldn't even pick it up from side stand so I don't think I'll ever get to actually have one

I think I will probably go on the Monday, I've got other plans for most of the rest of the week. Did I mention not to leave too late in the day, as the traffic is murder. I suppose I could go on the bike, but I couldn't take my G/F and the little man then - which wouldn't go down too well!!

Looking forward to seeing the new Honda CBR600RR the new Suzuki SV650 & 1000, the Kwak Z1000, the new Moto Guzzis and of course the Ducati 999.

Wouldn't is have been a better idea to hold it in the summer? Then people could go down on their bikes. Afterall, it is a bike show isn't it?

I take it you're a fair-weather biker then!!

When I had my GPz, I rode all the way from mid East Anglia to the North of Scotland on 5th January. I get goose pimples just thinking about it.... I must admit I probably won't be out again this year - not without a bit of an Indian summer ~~ fat chance of that!!

I did all my bike lessons in the rain, sleet, snow, hail. You name it, we had it. I think the fairweather rider thing came from that.
