Well, lets collate the lines of this limerick so far: -

A checkered flag flew from the spire
Constructed from girls' night attire
A sheet from her bed
Draped 'cross the pulpit instead...


o.k. the girl didn't do anything in the 4th line : "draped" = how the sheet from her bed was found lying on the pulpit in the church under the spire mentioned in the 1st line above. 'cross = across -abbreviated.

The restrictions placed by the structure of limericks means that so much of the story has to be condensed, yet still convey the intended meaning. Thus is the challenge of limerick writing.

I had this in mind: "Was what made the vicar retire!" -but it was not my turn. The game permits the supplier of the last line to rule off and start another limerick... ...but only if they wish.
