Sri Lankan Holiday
Posted Mar 8, 2009
Just got back from Sri Lanka - no it's not rhyming slang for anything.
It's a lovely place and we had a lovely time.
We travelled with Sri Lankan friends and ate our food without resort to knives and forks just like proper Sri Lankans. Waiters in restaurants stood round the table to watch us perform and brought finger bowls with huge grins on their faces. "You eat like Sri Lankans!" they said. We nodded and drank the finger bowls.

My new addiction
Posted Jan 28, 2009
My name is Vestboy and I'm addicted to a range of games on Facebook.
All the sort of things I shouldn't want to be involved with. Killing, weapons purchase, mugging, drug running, you know the sort of thing I mean. Yes, all these fighting games that need you to build up an army so that you can take over the world... and probably a few other places.
If anyone else wants to join my gang I'll join yours. Please form an orderly queue.

White van man
Posted Dec 20, 2008
When I went to work yesterday I had a bit of a problem as I approached the last bridge before the car park. There is a roundabout in the road just before the bridge and a police car was just positioning itself to block off the exit that I wanted. I parked close to the police car and asked what the problem was as I could see the entrance to the car park the other side of the bridge but also a huge white van wedged under the bridge.
The police officer said, "Alright you can go through as the fire brigade haven't started cutting yet but you'd better be quick!"
I jumped back into my car and drove past the van under the bridge and turned into the car park. When I came out of the car park there were fire fighters approaching the van with cutting gear. They had already let down the tyres to see if that would help but sadly not.
I did what any other public minded citizen did... and called the local paper to tell them there was a great photo to be had. I'll find out on Wednesday if they bothered to come out.

I'm not sure if I can beat the kids up the motorway
Posted Nov 28, 2008
BBC headline:
M-way covered by sweets and beer
Part of the M42 has reopened after a six-vehicle crash sent marshmallows and beer spilling out onto the carriageway.
What they didn't say was how many roads were closed due to kids and adults trying to get to the site to help with the clear up!

Disclose - can we be the inventors of a new piece of wisdom
Posted Oct 22, 2008
Sitting twiddling my thumbs some time back I came across a little thought that could be fun to share and see how long it takes to go round the world.
I think it is my own original thought so you can help me find out how long it takes for something to get into general usage. It is so trivial that I hope it doesn't offend anyone.
It helps to answer the questoin that if you aren't a scientist or even someone who is particularly observant how do you tell by looking at the moon whether it is getting bigger or smaller (waxing or waning)?
This is where my piece of wisdom comes into its own.
DisClose is the word you need to remember. If the moon has its outer curve on the right (like the letter D) then it is going to be a disc - it is getting bigger. If it has its curve on the left like a letter C it is closing. D for Disc, C for Close - put them together and what have you got? Disclose!
Pass it on and see how far it gets.
