Glow-in-the-dark-equipment

In the late 1920s, human laboratory experts discovered a new substance, which glew in the dark after lumination. The options seemed endless, until a more practical lavatory expert posed that the substance needed re-lumination after only short periods of lighting. This caused a big argument between the pro- and contra-scientists and the end of the story was that, as the substances patent had expired, the costs of laboratory research would never pay off. Instead, glow-in-the-dark-equipment found its non-scientifical way to all kinds of householdings, lighting watches and alarmclocks at night...
