IF I HEAR ONE MORE PERSON ON TV TELLING ME NOT TO LOOK AT THE SUN THROUGH BINOCULARS AND BEING PAID 100,000 POUNDS A YEAR FOR IT, I WILL SCREAM!!!!
Thankyou. Just wanted to get that off my chest. Also, I believe that entries are being censored around here. I have attempted to lodge a complaint, and am waiting to see what happens.

Sounds like you should visit the temple of the esteemed MadMunk....if you can see your way to becoming a convert you will find that the hospitality is outstanding!!

Nice to hear that the sun is coming out for you L'Toonz. Much the same for us over here, but the last few days have been fantastic. As in not a cloud in the sky. Am leaving y'all for a while to converse with Mr Sun for a while. Replenish the batteries so to speak. The glow of the computer, pardon the heracy, is sapping my energy.
Don't worry too much. I shan't go all hippy on everyone .
Hope the eclipse goes well to those chaps (Grey Area et al) who get a chance not to look at it.

LOL...it sounds like the best place to view it will be to stand outside for the event...but tape it all off BBC1...clear skies guranteed

Yes, well, as usual, it was a complete disaster! Started off as a gloomy wet day, at 11am it got gloomier, and then it brightened up a bit. And the trouble with taping it on Beeb Beeb Ceeb was that not only did they have Phillipa Forrester complaining she was cold, but THEY HAD PEOPLE ON TELLING ME NOT TO LOOK AT THE SUN THROUGH BINOCULARS EVERY FIVE MINUTES! BLINDED? I COULD HARDLY SEE UP THE GARDEN!
Also, I think my complaint has been censored.

No! Me wrong! H2G2 is as fine and upstanding an organisation as I'd hoped. I apologise!
And if anyone has anything they'd like to apologise for, I've opened a special page called "Humble Pie".
Sorry.

Wowbagger Posted Aug 11, 1999
Shall have my bit of humble pie soon. I'm sure many others will too. Loonytunes, by his own admission, is somewhat lacking in the humble department. I'm sure we can coerce him if we all pull together.

Well I had a perfect view up here in Northampton Barely a cloud in the sky....but then we didn't go *Total* ;-( Was looking forwards to the *Persiads* tonight.....but it's raining now!! Ho,hum....always tomorrow I guess!!

Ahh, That's Alabama. No, It's summer here, so there's not a cloud in the sky....but...the haze is so thick, it might as well be coming a storm.
Todays high....97 degrees....humidity, 67......haven't seen blue sky in so long, I really don't think it exists!(Yes, we're PRAYING for rain!)
This meteor shower is supposed to be the best in decades around here, shame is, I wouldn't be able to see it if I stayed up for it.....(about 4 am here). When it comes through, it will be around 78 degrees, and the overnight humidity gets near 100. Might as well be raining!

Hey, this time of year, we'll take anything we can get!!!!!
They had a tornado in Salt Lake City, Utah today. Killed 4, injured about 100. No surprise. It's in the middle of one of our worst deserts. You don't have tornados in a desert. We're prepared for them around here, they're not. The weather is getting very strange! Who knoew, ya'll might actually see the sun, for a change! Though that might not be a good thing. Ask the folks in Utah.

Oh dear!! I have a friend in Salt Lake City!! I hope that he is ok!I haven't seen him online yet ;-( I agree with you that the weather
globally is playing strange tricks...the rain we had on Monday here was definately more tropical then we're used to!Very heavy..and very warm.....this is supposed to be the sunniest, hottest time of year according to the records...but we haven't really had a hot,dry summer since '76....and that was a scorcher..the best bit of it were the *Malvern Hills*..they were turned red by the enormous amount of ladybirds(ladybugs?) that had settled on them...to eat up the enormous amount of greenfly Pretty colour combination don't you think?

FairlyStrange Posted Aug 11, 1999
Got you...translation...."ladybugs", "aphids"....You know, that does sound striking! Good contrast. 'Bout as good as the leaf color in autumn.
I do hope your friend is OK. From what I understand, it went through downtown....another unusual occurance. Most twisters do their damage in rural areas. Worst case scenario is a populated area.
Hope your friend is online soon. If not, don't get upset yet....the first thing to go down is telephone systems........trust me....I know. That's what I do!
