Hi Cafram!
May I just say that I think the new page look great
I have been meaning to stop by and check out your space for a while, but being a fellow procrastinator I never quite got round to it until now!
Anyway, Have a great day and I hope to catch up with you soon

Thanks!!
Do you know that in all my two and a bit years here with the same title on my page, you're the first one to say /anything/ about Rocky Horror?? Very strange, methinks...it's not as if the song is unknown or anything...
Ah well!
So how's life, the lighthouse, and all that jazz??
And a Step to the Right!
Lighthousegirl - back on board Posted Oct 13, 2001
Two and a half years and nobody commenting on the time warp! What is the world coming to I thought that I was being horribly un original!
Life and the Lighthoue?
*thinks that would make a good name for a book, but to answer *
Generally on the up at the moment, lots going on, many changes but I hope all for the better?
Jazz? Yes please, I love music, do you? What sort of things do you enjoy listening to?
How about with you?
And a Step to the Right!
cafram - in the states. Posted Oct 13, 2001
Maybe no one has commented because they were scared of being unoriginal....I'm glad you took the risk and became unoriginally original!!
Hmm....on second thoughts....no, I'm not even going to /try/ and re-read that line, I'm sure it doesn't make sense
On the up-and-up is always good - if you hope for the best, expect the worst, and you'll never be dissappointed. Is that optimistic pessimism or pessimistic optimism?? I'm never sure
I /love/ musical theatre, so any songs that are from shows are fantabulous. I've got to the stage where my friends challenge me to relate words back to songs, and I /usually/ can! I also like punk, ska, stuff from the whitlams, eels....pretty much anything but Britney etc...It all depends on mood though, don't you think? Somedays I just can't cope with slow stuff...especially when I'm in a bad mood - I stick on some loud music and my dad thinks I'm the obnoxious teenager he never had
Life is pretty evil at the mo - I'm meant to have heard back about some jobs and they haven't called, which is annoying and depressing, I think I'm going to fail French becuse I didn't turn up to the mini-exam, and my history essay is /never/ going to get finished at this rate!!
Ah well, such is life, I guess!! Things'll get better - most of the nastiness is my own fault, so I'm angry with myself for creating a bad situation...I'll get over it tomorrow, fer sure!

I am sorry to hear its tough at the moment. I wish I could say I have not been there, but ...
Lots has been changing for me, love life, work life and well everything life fronts, sometime you have to go really low to start getting back up!
I cam across a great quote the other day it went something like our greatest triumph is not in not falling down but in getting back up when we do.
Job seeking is horrible - Part of my job is recruitment and recently I have been the other side of the fence. As recruiters we forget how emotionally invested applicants are in the jobs we are trying to fill. I had certainly not appreciated how much work you have to put in as a candidate! What sort of job are you looking for?
It sounds pretty much to me like you have the situation under control, I know you will do just fine if you do what you think you should - Hmm now I'm not sure I am making any sense
Keep on getting back up when life gets you down! Keep the glass half full rather than half empty!
And a Step to the Right!
gaston Posted Oct 13, 2001
We Irish have a different view about that famous glass. We believe it's only the pessimist who percieves it as being half full. The optimist sees it as half empty -with another full glass standing by!
Good luck with everything

It is. I notice that I made a stupid spelling mistake in forgetting a rule that I teach - "I" before "e" except after "c". Ah well the glass was unfortunately not even half empty. A little bit late to perceive that but perhaps much later the vision would have been even more clouded. Another horrible thought strikes- we haven't said what's in the glass! What if it should be whisky instead of whiskey.
And a Step to the Right!
Lighthousegirl - back on board Posted Oct 13, 2001
* worrying about her dyslexic spelling as she always does when there is a teacher about, but hoping for the best and a lack of red ink *
And we have not said if it is a big glass or not! Half a big glass of whisky has to be better than half a small glass of water
And a Step to the Right!
gaston Posted Oct 14, 2001
Ah LighthousegirlUK I think you misunderstand me about my insistence on 'whiskey' instead of 'whisky'. Half a glass of whiskey is much better than a full glass of whisky. 'Whiskey' is Irish and storng tasting so suitable for drinking, whereas 'whisky' is Scotch and perfumy so only suitable as a deodorant. Cheers and thanks for the conversation.
Best regards
Gaston

I've applied for a few jobs...they're all just casual jobs doing different types of things...as long as I don't hate the work, I'm happy with it, in general. I'm saving to go O/S, so I can bear pretty much anything to get there!!
mmm.....whiskey...
And a Step to the Right!
Lighthousegirl - back on board Posted Oct 14, 2001
Gaston, may I appologise, the dyslexic in me often cant spot the difference between the words whisky and whiskey As to the tastes ... well whole lot differnet
Shall we raise a large glass of whiskey to Cafram getting a job?
And a Step to the Right!
gaston Posted Oct 14, 2001
Yes, LighthousegirlUK, let's do that and in unison say 'Slainte agus
ga saol agat' - Gaelic for good health and good luck. And I raise a glass to you also and hope you will continue to light the way for the
adventurers who roam the waves of cyberspace.
Nice talking to you,
Gaston

What's your new job doing?? there is no better way to write that sentance, and it looks awful. Ah well!
Korea - I'll be there for about 6 weeks, I think, although it could be less now cos they've been stuffing up our tickets and re-arranging everything. I'm hoping to come across to London for a month after that, to get to the meet, although I don't know if I have the money for it. Ah well...dreams are nice. Don't know how I'll cope with the timme away from hootoo though!

The new job is as a HR manager to a really large global business imporvement project which will findamentally change the way my employers do business round the world. I have to make sure that we have the right people in the right place at the right time with the right skills and attitudes, managed in the right way. to make it happen. Its a real challange and its fab!
I hope you can make it to London - it wuld be wonderful to see you there
I cant give you advice on surviving without this place - I am so not good at that!
It will be here when ever you can be
And a Step to the Right!
cafram - in the states. Posted Dec 9, 2001
oh wow - what a cool job! That sounds so good...I'm sure it'd be tough work, but the rewards must be great!!
London...hmm. not sure. still. depends largely on Korea - they still haven't told me when I'm leaving ...and I really don't think I can afford it.
But then maybe I can...
oh I don't know - I'm trying to avoid getting in debt, telling myself that Korea is enough travelling and there's no need to take a loan out just to go to the meet.
Which I know is right.
But then....oh it'd be so good!!
And a Step to the Right!
Lighthousegirl - back on board Posted Dec 12, 2001
It can be great - the hours are often long (hence I have not been here and the rewards (non monetary) are what matters to me
Well worth the long commute.
Korea sounds fantastic, and I think you are very sensible to try and avoid debt - but it would be great to meet you in LOndon - if not another meet another day
I have lost track a little of when you go (too much rushing around on my part) and I will be away tomorrow night (work till gone midnight so will stay away) so if I dont catch you again before you go have a wonderful time and see you soon
