Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk)
Clark's high school crush, neighbour and best friend.
Alexander 'Lex' Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum)
Clark's best friend,
That's two "best" friends - is it fair to say Lex is Clark's best *male* friend - or do you want to change one of them to just "friend"?
the Somerholt Institute, a research laboratory which enjoys illegally experimenting on people.
I don't think a building can "enjoy" anything, so I've changed that to "where the employees enjoy illegally experimenting on people" unless you can come up with something better.
>>Good at sport, he longed to escape from Smallville but felt tied to home, juggling his school studies, looking after the family business and his father's long-term illness. <<
was he caring for his father? Or dealing with carers? Or just had to take over the family business *because of* his father's illness?

Hello again, have you been holding out for a ? Good questions to start with and keep me on my toes (sadly like Clark Kent in 'Smallville', I can't fly).
Actually it is four 'best friends' – Lana, Chloe, Lex and Pete are all frequently described as being Clark's 'best friend', which I agree is silly. But that comes from 'Smallville' itself, it isn't me re-using the words 'best friend' at random. That's why I wrote 'As quite a few characters were created to be Clark's best friend, in many ways Pete was superfluous before being given an opportunity to develop as a character.' In the series all four are frequently called 'best friend' – perhaps one of super abilities is as well as having the strength of hundreds of men, he has the best friends of four?
Would something like this be better:
'the Somerholt Institute, a research laboratory where sinister doctors enjoy illegally experimenting on their patients'
And to answer the last question, he was caring for his father as well as taking over the family business because of his father's illness. (Who said that fictional male characters can't multitask and be expected to be in two different places at once?)

>>Helen Slater, who played Supergirl in the 1984 film Supergirl, played Clark Kent's mother Lara<<
was Lara his real mother (on Krypton)? If so, shouldn't that be "Kal-El's mother Lara"?

had a long post which I lost thanks to "Greetings unknown hiker"
however he is warned not to trust her because her father, Zor-El, tried to kill his brother and Clark's father Jor-El. Should be Kal-El's father? Perhaps: however he is warned not to trust her because her father, Zor-El, tried to kill his brother Jor-El (Kal-El's father).
is it The Daily Planet or the Daily Planet? (You have both)
>>Clark develops super hearing but by the end of the year his friends all go their separate ways.<< was that due to Clark's super hearing?
(I am sure there was another comment but I can't remember what it was - I'll go back and re-sub from where I began earlier)

Sorry that you lost the post – I've had that happen to me lots too. Recently if I'm writing anything longer than a couple of sentences, I write It in a Word document and copy/paste over, so if it goes wrong I can copy/paste again. Don't know if that tip helps…?
Anyway, yes, Lara is Kal-El's Kryptonian mother, so you can change Clark to Kal-El.
I agree that 'however he is warned not to trust her because her father, Zor-El, tried to kill his brother Jor-El (Kal-El's father).' Makes more sense, so tweak that
That was a very good question about the newspaper title. I've checked and looked at the logo, which always seems to be 'Daily Planet' so the answer is 'Daily Planet' without the 'The'.
And no, Clark's friends don't go their separate ways because of his hearing. That should be separated into two sentences: Something like 'Clark's powers continue to grow as he develops super hearing. By the end of the year he is left feeling lonely as he is separated from his friends.' What do you think?

That's a great tip
I've tweaked those. I should finish subbing this today - although I am finding the Winter Olympics hideously distracting

Is it Luthor Corp or LuthorCorp?

Bluebottle Posted Feb 21, 2018
Should be both LexCorp and LuthorCorp, no spaces in either.
I keep missing the Winter Olympics as it all happens when I'm at work

eighth series: >>becoming the hero nicknamed 'the Blur', helping people but using his super-speed to ensure he's never seen<<
ninth series: >>Clark, meanwhile, stops wearing blue and red and is now a black-clad blur<<
Final sentence: >>And will Clark finally learn how to fly and become 'Superman'?<<
was he wearing red and blue before he became Superman then?
I am not sure if it's explained when Clark becomes 'the Blur' - the 8th or the 9th series - was it a cliffhanger of the eighth and the start of the 9th?
There's a recap of the on BBC2 at 7-8pm and it's on all the time on Eurosport

Clark always is seen wearing red and blue, if wearing a red t-shirt he'd wear a blue jacket and vice versa, and blue jeans. So when he moved at superspeed the only thing that people and cameras see was a red and blue blur. But he becomes known as The Blur in 'DailyPlanet' halfway through series 8, but his identity remains unknown. In series 9 he does most of his crime fighting at night so he starts wearing a black t-shirt and black coat instead, so people only ever see a black blur.
Eurosport isn't a channel I'm familiar with – is it on Freeview? Sadly 7-8pm is the daily struggle to get the kids to go to bed…

I have Eurosport on my Virgin TV package. I've never had Freeview, so I don't know, sorry. Oh dear, maybe the BBC will do a "best bits" when it's all over.
I've finished the subbing now if you want to read and approve for return to Eds

Yesterday was my wife's turn to have the telly so I didn't get to see any after all…
