>>Desperate to originate their own work, in their part time the Blue Sky team made a short film called Bunny<<

"in their part time" doesn't sound right, do you mean in their spare time?

>>The third film in the Ice Age series was also the third Ice Age film to top the most successful animated film chart, beating Pixar's Up, DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs Aliens, Disney/ImageMovers Digital's A Christmas Carol, Disney's The Princess and the Frog, Sony Pictures Animation's Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Laika's Coraline.<<

That's quite a sentence, it leaves me breathless, and not how the entry should end, I feel. Could we split it up or reword it? Also could we have some personal input to polish it off, like how your kids enjoyed the Ice Age movies, a quote would do, thanks.

Is this better?

The third film in the Ice Age series was also the third Blue Sky film to top the most successful animated film of the year chart. It beat Pixar's Up, DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs Aliens, Disney/ImageMovers Digital's A Christmas Carol, Disney's The Princess and the Frog, Sony Pictures Animation's Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Laika's Coraline.

The children don't seem particularly interested in giving a quote (they're not that fussed about the 'Ice Age' films) but you're right that the entry could do with a stronger ending.

How about:
By the end of the decade Blue Sky had shown they were capable of beating established studios like Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks Animation at the box office. Yet looking ahead in an increasingly competitive market, their biggest challenge was to make another film that could rival the success of Ice Age and prove they were not a one-hit wonder.

Looking good – although the last 'Ice Age' at the end needs to be in italics.

saber-toothed – should be sabre-toothed (UK spelling).

I still think 'sabre-toothed tiger' is acceptable as a name in common usage. It is true that the animal is a cat rather than a tiger, but it is a common name not the scientific name and common names do not have to be accurate. A bullfinch isn't a bull, a stag beetle isn't a stag, a sperm whale isn't sperm, a koala bear isn't a bear, a killer whale is a type of dolphin and not a whale, the Tasmanian tiger wasn't a tiger, the sea lion isn't a lion, a mountain goat is an antelope, the aardwolf is a hyena, the mountain chicken is a frog, the elephant shrew is neither elephant nor shew, hedgehogs aren't hogs and polecats aren't cats.

The sabre-tooth tiger isn't a tiger, true, but it is a cool name. It ain't scientifically accurate, but with a common name that's not relevant. In the first 'Ice Age' film, Diego is a smilodon while the other sabre-tooth cats are related but not identical sabre-toothed species, which is why I described him as a sabre-tooth tiger and the others as sabre-toothed cats.

I just have to watch 'Rio 2' and then the next entry in the series can be bunged into Peer Review.

OK I have changed it all back, except you had "sabre-tooth" throughout your entry which is incorrect. I did check up on "sabre-toothed tiger" which is a misnomer, but as you say, in popular culture everyone knows what it is and it's a cool name. I'm just glad they're extinctsmiley - run

smiley - zzz quick as a flash, I love ctrl+f and copy & paste.... if only I'd have had such tools when I was learning typing at schoolsmiley - yikes believe me, when you have manually typed, and had to backspace and use Tippex behind carbon paper to correct typing errors, doing stuff on a laptop is a doddle.

So are we good to go back to Eds now?smiley - wizard
